Hey I love your right is so I don’t have words to describe but I now yo have a lot of hope baby sister but they adorable that I have to ask if you could do one we’re she is only 5 months and only what to be with Hayley and Klaus and Hope but if any of the others pick her up she starts to cry or get cranki
Favoritism
Baby female Mikaelson reader x Hope mikaelson (+family)
Warnings: None, just whole bunch of fluff
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Klaus bounces you in his arms while he walks into the courtyard of the abaittoir. Your rested against his chest with one arm wrapped around you and his other hand resting on the back of your head.
You move your gaze to everyone sat in the room. Hope is sitting beside Elijah on the couch, Freya is in an armchair, and Kol is in the other armchair.
Klaus civily greets his siblings and Hope, grunting when his phone starts to ring in his pocket. Taking his hand off your head, he pulls the phone out of his pocket. Marcel's ID contact shows on the screen. Sighing, Klaus answers the call.
He turns back around to face the four others, "I have to leave, seems Marcel has gotten into a bit of a dilemma" Klaus tells, not going into any detail. Everyone nods, Rebekah deciding to tag along with her older brother.
Klaus swiftly passes you to Kol since he was the closest to his younger brother.
After your dad leaves, Kol and you are just staring at eachother from where you're secured in his arms. "What?" Kol asks you (not expecting an answer), noticing how your gaze is not shifting off of his face.
You start squirming in your uncle's hold, wanting to get out. Before long, the squirming turns into tears running down your tiny cheeks.
Kol's eyes widen, not knowing what to do. He's never had any experience with this. Like at all. He was surprised when Klaus passed you to him in the first place.
Soon the tears turn into full on crying. Panicking further, Kol's eyes widened more than before and brings you against his chest to try and rock you like he's seen Hayley and Klaus do a bunch of times. It's doesn't help at all, at anything, it only makes you more worked up than you previously were.
He looks frantically over to his older siblings, "help!" Kol exclaims as he sees that they were just sitting there, staring, while he's now trying not to cry along with you.
Elijah stands from the couch and walks over. He bends down and picks you up out of Kol’s arms and into his own. Bouncing you in his arms and using the same techniques he's used with all his younger siblings and Hope when they were younger doesn't work. It only seems to have made you even more cranky than you were before.
Seeing the panicked face on her uncle's face, Hope stands up. She has a smidge of an idea about what's happening, but wanted to see how long it take her original vampire uncles or aunt to break because of a baby. Taking pity on them, and you, hearing how your cries and breathing have gotten more erratic, if she doesn't step in now, you might catch a cold, she stands up from the couch.
Hope walks over to her uncle and convinces him to pass you over to her. Sighing, he does, worries about you and doesn't want to put any stress on the teenager. Especially after what had happened when Hayley had almost died from Greta and how her son has used his niece.
When she cradles you in her arms, you immediately calm down, knowing it's your big sister. You nuzzle your face into her neck, her soft hair brushing against your cheek.
She walks back over to the couch and sits down. Her arms are wrapped tightly around you, making sure that there's no way you can get hurt. As she leans back into the comfy position she was in earlier, she feels eyes on her.
Looking around the room, her uncles and aunt are staring at her, mouths slightly agape, and eyes widened ever so much. "What?" She asks, knowing full well why they're staring.
"Did you use a spell to calm y/n down?" Elijah asks calm and collectively, unlike how Kol would be responded of he had the chance first. "No, but I've noticed how she's been only wanted to be held by mom, dad, or me. So I wanted to see what would happen if none of us were and how long it would last before I had to hold her" she explains as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
"Definitely no clear favoritism there" Kol scruches his eyes in mock anger and slight offense at you snuggled up with your big sister. Freya chuckles at her little brother's 'hurt feelings' about their five month old baby niece choosing wanting to be with her sister.
Hope just smirks at him, "I don't know what your talking about" she kisses the top of your head gently.
-
"What's going on in here?" Hayley's brow quirks up, she just got out of the shower. Telling by her still damp hair.
"Well your baby clearly has favorites" Kol says, flopping back into the couch with his arms crossed and a pout on his face. "I'm starting to wonder who the actual child here is, you or her" Hayley smirks and sits down next to her two daughters.
"Wow, first the baby, then the teen, and now the mother" Kol groans about how he can get insulted by all three of them in under thirty minutes. And you can't even talk yet!
Everyone chuckles at the teen original vampire, including you, copying what you hear your big sister doing and now your mama.
River Crossing Solution
Last we left off,1 our expedition was separated by a river, which was a non-insignificant problem due to:
a) Dwarves generally having all the aquatic grace of a brick.2
b) Nobody knowing how to build a bridge. Or cut down a tree for bridge materials. Or even hold an axe. Because somehow I set out on my expedition to found a new bastion of dwarven civilization with a group consisting entirely of musicians. Not even particularly skilled musicians! Just sort of middling ones!3
Well, we need to...sigh...get the band back together, so someone needs to undergo a swift career change. A quick trip to the therapist4 and Kol Mistêmmuthir has a new job.5 Now let’s just designate some trees to be chopped down, and-
They moved.
They changed sides! I looked away for one second to mark some trees and some of them switched sides of the river! How?! They didn’t swim, they’re not wet! Or dead! Did...did they jump??
I don’t like this. I don’t know how they’re crossing the river, but I need to put a stop to it. Dwarves manage to kill themselves doing the simplest of things, like walking down a corridor or getting a drink of water.6 I already feel uneasy about their ability to cross a bridge without falling off, the last thing I need is them...waves hands at the screen distressedly doing whatever the hell this is.
So off to work Kol! Soon we have stacks of logs and, with another trip to the therapist to enable some crucial skills, they’re quickly assembled into a bridge. A little observation confirms that the dwarves are now crossing the river using the bridge only. Phew. Crisis averted! We’ve solved the river crossing problem, and amazingly nobody died!
Yet.
It feels like it was only yesterday, doesn’t it? ↩︎
And being proud of it. ↩︎
Like a garage band formed on impulse at a neighborhood barbecue by a group of dads all going through a mid-life crisis at the same time.7 ↩︎
DwarfTherapist is an external utility for managing what labors are enabled/disabled for dwarves, among other useful things. It’s much more user friendly than the in game way of managing each dwarf individually. Also it gives the impression that there is, at all times, an omniscient and immortal therapist just off screen, talking dwarves through career changes. ↩︎
Congratulations on your new path, Kol. May you be one of the blessed few woodcutters who doesn’t die from a log falling on their head.8 ↩︎
The only safe dwarf is a dead dwarf.9 ↩︎
And none of them discussed who would play what, so each one showed up to the first and only practice session with a bass they had bought earlier that week.10 ↩︎
Logging! Where Dwarf Fortress and reality meet each other in lethality!11 ↩︎
Though, now that I think about it, maybe if they weren’t buried properly and so produced a ghost, then a necromancer raised their body, then the ghost scared the zombie body off a ledge into lava...can zombies get scared by ghosts? There’s a definitive answer to this in the wiki. I know it.12 ↩︎
And they went with a real low hanging fruit of a name, like “The Grateful Dad”.13 ↩︎
Anyone else occasionally stop what they’re doing and worry about loggers? I don’t know any, I’m just worried about them. That’s normal right? ↩︎
The answer is no, zombies can’t be scared. Ghosts might be able to batter zombies to death though. Hmm, maybe I can experiment... ↩︎
Sorry, right, this is a Dwarf Fortress let’s play, not a blog about fictional dad bands.14 ↩︎
I think “Patricide” would be a pretty sweet name for a dad band though. ↩︎
Miss Me? Part 7
Kol Mikaelson x Reader
Warning(s): some violence that’s normal for the show
Word Count: 1482
part 6 | series masterlist
---
You let out a sigh when you walked into the Abattoir. It was quiet in the courtyard, and you couldn’t hear anyone on any of the other levels. You turned and made your way up the stairs and walked the halls to find something to occupy your mind. But you couldn’t help checking the time on your phone every few minutes. Kol would be meeting you soon to go to a doctor's appointment. It was your first appointment since you found out you were pregnant. You thought you would be excited, but you were just terrified. All the things that could go wrong were on a constant stream in your mind. Nothing you tried made you feel any better. One of the doors on the hall you were walking down was open, so you took a step inside as your phone started to ring. Caroline’s name was on the screen so you picked up.
“You answered!”
You laughed as you looked around the office you had entered. “I usually do.”
“I thought you had an appointment today.”
“It’s not for a few more hours.”
You walked over to the wall lined with bookshelves and looked through the titles.
"Great! We have plenty of time."
"For?" The rustling of paper made its way through the phone.
"Baby names."
You laughed. It was definitely like Caroline to be thinking this far in advance.
"Caroline, we have a long time before we need to worry about names."
"Come on, you mean you and Kol haven't talked about it at all? Just the two of you laying in bed at night talking about what to name your baby."
"We tend to do other things in bed late at night."
Caroline made a gagging sound causing you to laugh. "Ok, There are some things I don't need to hear about."
"We don't even know if it's be a boy or a girl."
"That's why you make ideas for both."
You rolled your eyes and settled into an armchair in the room. This conversations wasn’t ending soon and you were glad for the distraction from your previous train of thought.
"I'm guessing you already have ideas."
"Of course I do, but mine don't matter."
You sighed. "I don't know. I don't want anything too crazy."
Caroline started to ramble and you brought a hand up to your stomach rubbing the bump that had started to form. you weren't sure how you didn't realize what was happening sooner. You'd never planned on having kids. It was never something that interested you. Now, you couldn't help thinking of your parents. They didn't plan on having you, but they had loved you. Your dad had done everything possible to protect you before he died. All you wanted was to be able to talk to him. He had always been able to drive away your fears.
"Are you listening?"
Caroline's voice broke you out of your thoughts. While blinking back tears that threatened to fall, you cleared your throat.
"Yeah, I am."
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"Nothing. I just miss my dad and mom."
"Everything will be ok, Y/n."
"Thanks. I'm gonna go. Love you."
"If you need anything call me."
You hung up the phone and laid back in the chair, propping your feet on the table in front of you. After getting as comfortable as possible, you closed your eyes. A nap couldn’t hurt anything since you had nothing to do but wait for Kol. You nearly jumped out of the seat when someone said your name. You turned to see Elijah walking into the room obviously trying to hide laughter.
"You nearly killed me."
"I didn't mean to sneak up on you. I thought you heard me." He stepped into the room and moved to stand by the window
You laughed. "I was on the phone with my sister. It's hard to focus on anything else."
"Sister?"
"She was in Mystic Falls, Caroline Forbes."
Your eyebrows rose when he released an 'Ah.'
"Niklaus speaks of her often, but I don’t know that I ever got to meet her.”
You stood up and walked over to him as you pulled out your phone and scrolled through your photos until you came to a picture with her in it. The picture made you smile. You saw Elijah falter slightly when he saw the photo. His eyes focused on the third person in the picture. Katherine was between you and Caroline. Your friendship with Katherine had been strange. Caroline had sent her to stay with you after she was turned into a human, and the two of you had become friends. That picture had been taken one of the only times you’d been able to convince Caroline to go out with the two of you.
“You know Katerina?”
“We were kind of friends.”
Elijah’s smile turned bitter. “Until she betrayed you I assume.”
“No, she died.”
He didn't speak, just stared at the phone. You couldn't help the unease that made its way through you. You said his name and he finally tore his gaze from the screen. He stepped away from you and walked over to glance out the window.
“Niklaus will be happy to hear this.”
You shook your head, confused. “He knows. He and Rebekah came to Mystic Falls when they heard she was dying.”
He turned so fast you hardly noticed. The look on his face caused you to take a step back, subconsciously placing a hand over your stomach. Elijah was typically reserved. You weren’t sure you’d ever seen him truly angry. But the look on his face was far past anger. You heard voices enter the Abattoir, and he was out of the room. You heard a crash in the distance. After a moment, you followed to see Elijah standing over Klaus who was now laying on a broken table. You looked up as Kol came to your side and grabbed your hand. He looked you over and you gave him a small smile to stop his worrying. Your attention moved back to the others when Klaus spoke.
“Now brother, what was that for?”
“Katerina.”
Klaus glanced at you as he stood up and sighed when you shrugged. “I did not kill her.”
“You kept her death from me. Why?”
“I wasn’t aware it would interest you.”
Elijah turned to Rebekah who had come into the room when she heard the crash.
“I’m sorry, Elijah.”
His gaze moved between the two of them and he shook his head. He stepped away from them, and then he was gone. Klaus took a step towards you and Kol stepped in front of you.
“What did you tell him?”
“All I did was tell him Katherine died. And you two came to Mystic Falls when it happened,” you said. “I had no reason to believe he didn’t know.”
"Wonderful." Klaus grunted and stomped out of the room with Rebekah following him.
You looked up at Kol as he pressed a kiss to your forehead then lips. "Hello, darling. Are you alright?"
He moved his hand over your stomach, and you covered it with your own.
"I'm fine. Ready to go?"
The smile that bloomed on his face made you laugh as you walked out of the building.
--
Your anxiety grew the closer you got to the doctors your anxiety grew. Kol's thumb drew circles on the back on your hand. Part of you was excited, but the other half couldn't shake off the nerves. It's not like you could read about hybrid babies on the internet. Hope was the only thing you had to go by and her birth hadn't exactly been normal.
The doctor you were seeing had a small office not far from the Abattoir. She was aware of the supernatural which was why you chose to see her. After entering the small building, you checked in with the receptionist and went to wait. You and Kol passed the time talking, but you couldn't concentrate on anything. It felt like hours before a nurse called you back. Once inside the small office, you sat on the exam table. The doctor went through a variety of questions and tests before moving to your side.
"Now we're going to check your baby's heartbeat."
She had you lay back and lifted your shirt. You took a deep breath, and Kol grabbed your hand. The doctor moved the device around your stomach for a minute until a small sound filled the room. Your mouth dropped at the sound and you felt Kol's grip tighten on your hand.
"Heartbeat is strong," the doctor said.
"They're ok?"
"Everything sounds good. I'll have you come back in in a few weeks..." She continued listing off a variety of things before sending you on your way. As you left neither you or Kol could help the smiles that worked their way to your faces.
A/n: I hope you like it! It’s shorter than I wanted but it’s finally here. If you name is marked out on the tags it wouldn’t let me tag you for some reason.
“If you´re going to be bad, be bad with purpose.”
Damon is a well-written character meant for a redemption story. Considered the "bad" brother in the series, he's often referred to as a dick by other characters, but his actions so often speak louder than their feelings of him. "You're mean to the people that you care about." Damon logic. Easy for Stefan to play the good brother. One bound by rules while Damon makes the tough decisions in order to get things done. Being hated doesn't bother him, probably because he knows most of his bad decisions are made with good intentions. It's the rule breaker who's likely to challenge and change rather than conform. No character does it better than one driven by love because the heart isn't bound by rules. Elena learned this about Damon from the very beginning, mentioned it at least twice in the first season. It's why she finds herself so forgiving. He loves fiercely, and fights like hell to protect that which he loves. They discuss her ability to forgive him throughout the show because he does a lot of terrible things. Things he sometimes chooses to do so that Stefan can live without guilt whilst he continues playing hero, the brother everyone roots for. No need to force his good brother to do bad things when bad things are his specialty. He’ll do what he can to protect others, but when two lives are on the line, he'll always choose Elena.
Damon is supposed to be hated as most redemption characters are, but that wasn’t always the case. As a human, he was sweet and earnest, Katherine and Stefan both describing him as much. He suppresses that part of himself, and likely has from the moment he became a vampire. “Oh, that Damon died a long time ago.” Despite being forced to turn, he's a lot like Caroline. Vampirism strengthened him... made him fearless. This allows him to feel more in control. Being a character driven by love, it’ll be the one thing he fears and the one thing that'll change him. Elena's character has all the qualities necessary for the perfect redemption romance. She's a lot like Damon used to be. imo, her love had more power over him than the cure for vampirism. By the time the series ended, whether or not he took the cure didn’t matter to me.
“You're not going to lose him, honey. You're setting him free.”
No one can argue the fact that Elena fell in love with Damon while she was human because they started writing for it long before she turned. Elena had several conversations about it before she died. It was her unwillingness to admit how she felt that became an issue for her character. Even as she had her memories altered by Alaric later in the series, she had a difficult time admitting when she fell for him. This is where her 3x22 flashback comes in. Her phone call with Damon runs parallel to her flashback phone call with her mother. That’s when Elena’s “always” changed. It wasn’t “always” gonna be Stefan.
In denying her feelings for Damon as long as she did, it allowed Elena to bury the guilt she would’ve felt. Her love for him began in 3x1, as mentioned during Alaric’s compulsion. That love continued to build over the third season. In 3x4, Caroline confronted her about it, knowing full-well Damon got under her skin. In 3x16 and 3x22, she discussed her feelings with Matt. His response is all one needs because he knew which one she wanted to choose. Even Stefan knew. In 3x19, he sent her off with Damon to face those feelings, and the result of that speaks well on its own. She can't deny them in the moment, only before and after the fact. Easier to hate than to love because he doesn't fit in her world like Stefan does. Hard to love the guy everyone hates, to defend him as she’s often forced to do. That’s why she wanted him to sabotage things on their trip. It would’ve made it easier for her to end things. Her comment about Rebekah speaks just as much of herself. "She loves blindly and recklessly, even if it consumes her." That's how she can fall for the guy that's wrong for her. Because the heart isn't bound by rules. She dared to love that which everyone else hated, but she saw what they didn’t.
"I helped her. She needed my help."
Damon knew that Elena didn't want to be a vampire because he nearly turned her twice. But it wasn't a secret, everyone knew how she felt. That's why he was upset with Dr. Fell for helping Elena, but at the same time, happy she was still alive. "Damon... help her." The sire bond storyline is an interesting one because they use it to fuel character feelings. Caroline hates Damon, so of course she's gonna tell Elena it’s not love, but a sire bond. Anything she can say to impact Elena’s decisions. She'll even say it's better to be a Ripper than to sleep with multiple women. Nevermind those women acting as distractions and leaving still very much alive. Emotions are Damon's weakness, expect him to find comfort in another when he's driven by love. When Stefan killed Andi, he knew what he was killing. He basically sent Damon running back to Elena.
Elena always knew how she felt because she fell for Damon prior to becoming a vampire, and she ensured her feelings were real by talking to Tyler about his sire bond. She isn't so blind that she doesn't see how wrong Damon is for her, she simply doesn’t see him that way. Caroline said it best. "I know that you're in love with me and anybody capable of love is capable of being saved." Stefan should've accepted the truth when it was given to him by the witch. Instead, he spent most of the season worrying less about curing Elena of vampirism and more about breaking her sire bond because he thought it would stop her from loving Damon. But it's not like Elena didn't tell him about her feelings well before she slept with him, and it’s not like he didn’t see it for himself. “I'm talking about the fact that you're also in love with Damon.” He knew when he sent her off with Damon to pick up Jeremy. Kinda hard to take Stefan seriously when he blamed Damon for his bloodlust and becoming a ripper. As if Damon had any control over how Stefan fit into his new self. Prior to becoming a vampire, Elena admitted that it consumes her when she's with Damon. You can see it in her body language when they share the screen. Those feelings only magnified when she became a vampire. Stefan all-accepted every other emotion Elena felt as normal except her love for Damon. He wouldn't even accept the truth when Rebekah compelled her to tell it. Caroline blindly bought the same crap because they couldn’t understand how a good person could fall for the “bad” brother. The sire bond was Stefan's way of denying the truth. His unwillingness to accept her feelings allowed him to bury the heartbreak, and gave him hope for a future with Elena.
“Bet you blame the sire bond for that too.”
That unwillingness affected the cure storyline. Rather than accept what was, once Stefan realized Elena was sired, it took center stage to the reason he wanted the cure for her. It shows, especially when Damon is compelled by Kol to kill Jeremy. It's better for Jeremy if Damon stays in the cell, but Stefan wanted him locked in until they found the cure because it’s all about the sire bond for him. His every dialogue follows along with that desire. He can't handle Elena being sired because, like Caroline, he believes Damon uses it to his advantage when he doesn't. Why they didn't think to flip her humanity switch until Jeremy died is beyond me. She's only sired because of her emotions, just have her flip the switch and it'll act as a reboot. She literally had to flip her switch and turn it back on before Stefan would accept the fact that his girlfriend fell in love with his brother. So from the moment he realized she was sired to Damon, to the point she flipped her humanity back on, Stefan's reason for wanting the cure centered around breaking her sire bond. Curing her of vampirism became an afterthought.
Opposite for Damon. His reason for wanting the cure for Elena centered around curing her of vampirism. The sire bond was an afterthought because he didn’t use it to manipulate her. “I'm fine with her either way, Brother.” He knows she never wanted to be a vampire. Damon can’t be selfish with Elena, another theme that continues throughout the series. That’s why he’d struggle with her being human again, but hand her the cure anyway. What she did with the cure once he gave it to her was on her, but the sire bond storyline affected the cure storyline because it fueled Damon’s feelings in the process. He spent 145 years believing Katherine was in love with him, only to find out she was in love with Stefan. Expect him to want Elena’s love to be real, and to question it when he’s given reason to. Only magnified when the characters that hate him dig in, pushing him to fear it being a sire bond trick.
“Take the cure with me.”
Damon goes through a double double-switch for the cure because of the sire bond storyline. When you see his willingness to become a vampire for Katherine, expect him to take the cure for Elena. He's driven by love. You even see it in his flashbacks when he's considering it for himself. It's not the kid that gets him, but the couple. That's why Stefan never thought Damon would give up his vampirism. He only loves being a vampire because he found strength in it. He’s a lot like Caroline that way. The cure became an issue for him because he had a lot of fear, and everyone around him strengthened it all the more. Easier for him to push Elena away than to suffer more heartbreak. Damon wanted her love to be real. To get the girl the old-fashioned way. The human way. He didn’t want vampire tricks deciding his relationship with her. That's why I love how the vervain necklace runs through the series.
Most of his actions are in response to his emotions, and because he’s ruled by his emotions, Damon would be a much better human than a vampire. Vampirism only heightens their emotions.
Fire & Flame
Prince of New Orleans // Starless Wolf
Henrik Jakob Mikaelson ll
[AO3: Talking_FishboneHHHADOCK]
As a Mikaelson, the world put so much pressure on him; he was born with his father's enemies. Nobody knew the sacrifice he would make for his family, to reunite them once again.
While his twin sister was their family's last hope, he was the light. It destroyed Hope when their father left that their family was torn apart by The Hallow. A parasitical entity the resided in Klaus and his siblings, this creature that ended their parent's relationship.
But Henrik would do anything for his sister if it meant to bring his family back together, even at the expense of someone's life.
--
He looked at the glowing screen of his phone and typed one last message to Josie, his final goodbye.
| Josie, I’m sorry, please understand I had to do this. X | He dropped the phone to his bed, turning on his heel, leaving the room behind, the ingredients for the spell stored away in his bag.
He skidded to a stop in the music room when he came face to face with his sister. She stared at him with impossibly wide eyes; her voice broke as she held up his hastily written note. “What is this?” He felt the blood drain from his face, “It’s not what it looks like,” he meekly offered.
As if Hope would believe his transparent lie, “Not- It’s not what it looks like?” she spewed at him. “Henrik it looks like a fucking suicide note.” Hope gasped, appalled at his idea. Henrik faced her with a grim determination, and he tilted his chin forwards "Please Hope, understand we almost lost Mom!"
"If I take this thing in, it wasn't me who it possessed last time, and may- Maybe we can find a way to get our family back and purge it for good." He stammered tears freely welling in his eyes. Henrik watched as Hope started to pace in front of him, "And, and what you thought I would be fine with this? That I’d roll over and accept this as a final goodbye!” She waved the now crumpled note in the air. “I can’t lose you.” She choked.
“You won’t” he promised, it was written across her face as if she knew this would be the last time, she would look at his face. He was disgusted with himself at devastating hope like this, but he was out of options.
“Don’t go.” The words fell unbidden from her lips “Please, don’t leave me.” Her plea shattered his core to a million pieces. He clenched his fist "Ad Somnum." He reached out and grabbed his sister, setting her down on the chair behind her. "Forgive me, Hope."
"When you wake, our family will be together again. Forever and always."
-
Everything was set out before him, his aunt, and uncles; Rebekah, Kol, Elijah and his father Klaus laid out in front of him, the storm raged above him becoming worse by the second. He sighed heavily "It's now, or Hope and every firstborn ever dies." He trailed off mindlessly.
His breath was coming faster with every second that ticked away from him, sweat dripping from his temples. With each shallow breath, anxiety spread through his body like a piece of imposing ice.
Henrik closed his eyes the tip of the dagger pressed over his own heart, his aunt, uncles, and father on the floor a few paces in front of himself. They would wake any moment now. Someone could try to stop him at any moment; tears rolled down his freckled cheeks.
The dagger was brought to his chest, the chill of the blade added to the ice invading his veins. The point was carefully hovering over his heart; he pressed down slowly the small pinprick left behind a tiny well of blood. He drew the dagger away once more before plunging it into his chest.
He completed the spell, absorbing the Hallow into himself. Hot blood escapes the new wound spilling over his hands, down his chest.
Blood started to bubble past his lips, an agonised scream echoed around the open room as he dropped to his knees. The agonised scream ripped from his throat on its own accord, it felt as if he were being torn apart atom by atom, ripped apart limb by limb. His head exploded with a destructive, fiery pain that spread to his chest down his limbs.
He cast his cerulean blue eyes up, to see the church doors fly open. He took one last look at his mother and sister before slumping lifelessly towards the floor. He felt his mothers arms around him the sob that tore from her throat was unbearable; he shuddered to take his very last breaths. Hope’s echoing footfalls growing louder as she ran towards him.
Hope ripped the weapon from his chest as all he could manage was to drown in his blood gasping for clean air that would never come. “What did you do?” was all his mother could ask as she held her spasming dying son in her arms “Please don’t leave my sweet boy.” She kissed his cheek softly, the last thing Henrik felt was his sister’s arms wrapping around him too.
It had been done.
The Hallow was dead, and so was he.
Or so he thought.
Klaroline in Legacies so far.
This is for all my comrades who refuse to watch Legacies (for good reasons) and want to know about the Caroline and Klaus mentions in Legacies. This post naturally contains TVD, TO and Legacies spoilers so read at your own risk! Inspired by @bossyblondebabe‘s post asking about Klaus and Caroline in Legacies.
Caroline:
• It’s mentioned that she is in Europe taking care of Salvatore School-related business, but it is later revealed she's actually looking for a way to stop the twins from having to merge.
• As for direct interactions with other characters, her kids sometimes stay with her in Europe for a while (off-screen) and in one of the latest episodes her daughter Josie calls her for advice because she wants to make the right decision (but you can't hear Caroline's voice during the phone call).
It's later revealed that Caroline said that people deserve to know the truth and make their own choices.
• Caroline is just mentioned as a good mom and her advice in general is also mentioned. For example: “You know how Mom always says that things work out in the end the way they're supposed to? She's right”. Other characters just mention how Caroline, although she’s not their biological mom, did a great job raising Lizzie and Josie.
• It’s said that Lizzie takes more after Caroline and Josie takes more after Josette. (In my opinion they are both very different from Caroline, but Lizzie is a bit more similar to Caroline than Josie).
• Alaric has also been on the phone with her multiple times. They mostly just talk about how Caroline is busy following leads on stopping the merge.
• Other than that she has a pretty good relationship with her daughters and her daughters really want her to come home.
• Caroline didn't want to tell the twins about the merge until her and Alaric exhausted all options to stop it from happening, but eventually did tell her kids that the weird device they had was an Ascendant and that Josie and Lizzie made it with Aunt Bonnie when they were five, but she didn't tell them if it had anything to do with the merge.
• Caroline searched for and picked the new headmaster of the Salvatore School (Alaric's replacement) herself but it turns out she didn’t do a great job which I refuse to believe because... she’s Caroline Forbes?!
So basically she's just busy off-screen 24/7.
Klaus:
• He is mostly mentioned as "the big bad wolf" or “Klaus Mikaelson: The Great Evil” (literally printed in a book at the Salvatore School lmao) by anyone other than Hope. It’s mentioned that he was one of the earth’s Original Vampires and that he wasn’t very popular around Mystic Falls.
• Hope usually just mentions him as her dad and randomly makes remarks about him like:
“Turns out even immortal beings can find a way to die eventually.” “The people I care about have a tendency to die on me.” “I try not to get close to people anymore.” “I've spent years torturing myself, asking myself why my father sacrificed himself for me, to get to this point where, I mean, I totally understand it.”
It is implied that she has abandonment issues because of his death.
• In one episode The Necromancer talks to Hope about her dad. He says that Hope wants to know how her dad is or WHERE he is. She denies this but The Necromancer doesn’t believe her. He says she wants to know if he's at peace or if he's suffering, regretting his sacrifice because he did die to save Hope's life after all. Hope keeps saying he’s wrong and won’t admit that she wants to know. She says she’s at peace with her dad and that he did die because of her, but that it was his choice and that she’s come to terms with it. She says The Necromancer is wrong about her and that she doesn’t need to know anything blah blah blah.
Later in the episode however she finally admits she wants to know about her dad. She says her family said that he must have died with love in his heart and that he should’ve found peace but she doesn’t know if that’s actually true. She says she really needs to know that he’s not alone because she can’t live with herself if Klaus is alone because no one should ever have to be.
The Necromancer screws her over later in the episode but before he leaves he does mention her father again. He says that Klaus watches over Hope every day and that he did die with love in his heart and doesn’t regret his choice, but he won’t find peace until Hope does. Later in the episode, Hope writes a letter to her dad:
“I was told today that you would never find peace until I found it in myself. I hope that was a lie told to punish me. God knows I deserved that. But if it's true, I'm gonna do better. Today I saw a glimpse of what true loneliness feels like. Of what lies in store for me if I don't find my own peace. So I'm gonna get to work on that. I'm glad to know you're with me, but I look forward to the day when you're not. I love you. - Hope. ”
• He can be seen in family photos in Hope's room (Hayley has been removed from photos but she has been mentioned as Hope’s mom). Hope is mentioned to have lost half of her stuff in a fire a few years ago including the only painting she made with her dad. It’s later revealed that Josie was the person who accidentally set Hope’s whole room on fire instead of just one particular thing she was aiming for, which meant Hope lost an important keepsake because of Josie.
• Freya was also in one episode for like two scenes but Klaus wasn’t really mentioned and she basically had no dialogue with Hope except for calling each others names and hugging. Freya did mention to Josie that her kid was called Nik (presumably after Niklaus, because who else?).
So basically he’s just Hope’s dad who was evil (but not in everyone’s eyes), and Hope misses him 24/7.
Klaroline:
There are two #KlarolineConfirmed episodes, both in season one.
S01E10
This episode is the most confusing when it comes to the Klaroline mentions because they don’t make sense. In this episode Lizzie ends up in alternate realities by wishing Hope doesn’t exist/was never born (don’t remember) in which it’s mentioned that Klaus gave money to Caroline for the Salvatore School in their own world, but that this didn’t happen in the reality they were currently in which is why the school looks awful.
youtube
However the reasoning Lizzie gives (“Hope's dad wrote my mom a big check to fund the school when it opened, so no Hope, no funding, no fun.”) makes no sense, because Klaus didn’t give Caroline the money just because Hope went there and he met Caroline and was in love with her before Hope existed. I’m also pretty sure Klaus gave her the money before they convinced the Mikaelsons to enroll Hope in their school and by then the school already looked nice. On top of that Caroline is a vampire and the Salvatores were pretty rich too so I just don’t really understand this but i’M nOt A wRiTeR so whatever.
In the same episode Lizzie ends up in another alternate reality/universe where Klaus can be seen on a poster as a wanted man. Later you can see sketches of Caroline and Klaus next to each other in a newspaper article where they are mentioned as husband and wife and enemies of the state. Alaric tells Lizzie Klaus turned off his humanity years ago and started a war and ended up exposing the supernatural world and now they’re being hunted. You can watch those scenes in this video (from 1:24):
youtube
Although it's a nod to the Klaroline fans, not a lot about it makes sense. Why does one line say “Klaus Michelson and Caroline Forbes” and the next “Klaus Mikaelson and his wife Caroline Mikaelson?” Why did Klaus turn off his humanity? Is that even possible after being a vampire for so many years? Why would Caroline go along with it? Why would the smart and powerful Niklaus Mikaelson be that stupid and expose the supernatural world even with his humanity off and not have common sense like no-humanity Caroline? It makes zero sense.
I’ve seen theories about them “losing it” because of them losing family members and friends and not having children but to me that still doesn’t make sense. They’ve lost family members before and Klaus has lost so many acquaintances over the centuries... I could maybe see them being sad in the next century when Caroline has lost all her friends and realises she’ll make new friends and experience this over and over again for the rest of her life but that doesn’t explain why they would both be like that and expose the entire supernatural community. Klaus has lived for centuries, he could’ve easily exposed the supernatural world by now but never went that far even when he killed his own parents, lost his home, when his siblings were murdered, when he desperately wanted to create an entire hybrid army, when he tried to reclaim New Orleans... I just don’t see how this could actually happen.
In TVD S04E04 Klaus and Rebekah tell the story of the hunter Alexander and Klaus said that they (The Originals) were traveling and feeding on people and turning people into vampires as they went. “With bloodshed came exposure”. So Elijah makes a remark that Klaus and Kol haven’t been discreet. Klaus replies to this statement by making a quick joke about welcoming such infamy, but immediately mentions that he isn’t the one Elijah should worry about, but Rebekah. This implies that even though he feeds and turns people and makes jokes about it, he has no intention of exposing himself completely to the general public. He even gets really pissed when Rebekah exposes all of them and they all get daggered by the hunters so this is not something Klaus would ever do.
But yeah... so... What am I supposed to gather from this? That Klaus and Caroline are soulmates in every possible universe? That even when things are totally different and literally nothing else make sense, they still do? I guess I’ll take it.
We could’ve had it aaaaaaaalllllll. ♫
S01E14:
In this episode Lizzie gives Hope the blue TVD S03E14 Mikaelson Ball Klaroline dress to wear to the Miss Mystic Falls Pageant. Then this scene happened:
youtube
Apparently Josie knew the dress was a gift from Klaus to their mom that he picked out himself, but Lizzie didn’t know it was from Klaus specifically but just that it was a gift from a guy who used to crush on their mom. Also: yes, Caroline Elizabeth Forbes kept The Dress™ all these years.
Other random stuff you might want to know:
• In the season 1 finale Hope says she thought she was a cosmic mistake that was never meant to be born, but she now thinks that the only reason she and the stupid hybrid baby plot exists because nature needed to find a loophole to be able to destroy Malivore: a tribrid (because Malivore was created by the blood of a werewolf, a witch and a vampire).
• Some characters from The Originals like Jackson, Davina, Cami, Keelin and Kol can be seen in a few photos in New Orleans in the Freya cameo episode.
• Family members can be seen in family photos in Hope’s room.
• Damon and Elena apparently have kids and one of them is called Stefanie (the audacity lol) but that’s in an alternate universe??? Or in the real one too??? Idk.
• Kai Parker will also return in 2020 but I’m not sure if I’m happy about that. He’ll probably make his episode(s) worth the torture that is Legacies but Julie will probably just kill him again (and probably in a lame way).
• Jeremy and Matt have shown their faces once or twice for a completely useless guest star appearance.
• Matt was the sheriff who was mentioned to be running for mayor, later it was revealed he actually became the mayor of Mystic Falls.
• Something I noticed is that although the twins call Bonnie “Aunt Bonnie”, they call Elena and Damon just Elena and Damon Salvatore. In a recent episode Lizzie was driving the blue Camaro and she told Sebastian her “dad’s friend” (Damon) gave it to her and Josie for their sixteenth birthday.
• There is this new character called Sebastian who is shipped with Lizzie and they are blatantly copying Klaroline scenes and roughly “the concept” (old vampire with European accent, blonde girl, sex in the open, the car ride camera shots, even the dialogue had a copy-paste “I fancy you” in there). Although I expected to like the Lizzie/Sebastian relationship when it was teased because I like the stereotypical bad guy and good girl dynamic it turns out to be not nice at all imo. People are calling it the new Klaroline and although their scenes and lines are a ripoff (which is not something to be proud of, I’d rather see fresh material) their dynamic is completely different. It reminds me more of Damon/Caroline to be honest. “Old handsome but cocky vampire stranger comes into town and flirts with me and I’m way too into it.” There is almost no feeling of push and pull although they like to portray it like it’s there by having them bicker for 1 minute. They met a few episodes ago and she’s already obsessed with him, then hates him, then sleeps with him and he’s just way too annoying for me. Not my taste. He comes off as a completely arrogant prick and I don’t know what Lizzie sees in him tbh. He also doesn’t come off as genuine to me, I feel like there’s 0 feelings and just purely lust and plotting? It seems like the writers thought that giving Caroline’s blonde daughter a love interest (with a cleaner slate) with similar dialogue and scenes to Klaroline would make fans happy but the characters are not that similar to Klaus and Caroline. The dynamic is just completely different. Also Sebastian grabbed her by the throat in and it wasn’t really hot or slightly funny like I’m sorry but Klaroline did it way better.
I also want to make it clear that you can ship whoever you want to ship and I’m not trying to drag S!zzie. I expected to like them together but the more scenes I watched the less I liked them and I’m a bit disappointed. I don’t puke everytime they have a scene together but I’m not into it either. So once again: I don’t hate S!zzie or S!zzie shippers but I’m just not that into it and I think the parallels are kind of shitty and not a good thing for both fandoms. Have a great day and have fun shipping your ship and please don’t attack me bye.
• Relationship dynamics are really weird in this show. Alaric seems to be more of a father to Hope than to Lizzie and Josie and he keeps dragging Hope’s dad.
• This show has a new Elena and if you thought it was Hope (because Julie Plec likes to call her the better Elena) then you’re wrong. It’s actually Landon Kirby. He’s bland and he’s just kind of there, having a love triangle. Although it’s true that Hope also has the I’m-Special-And-Everyone-Is-Magically-In-Love-With-Me-For-No-Reason-Syndrome. I get that Danielle is pretty, I have eyes, but we don’t all fall in love with every pretty person that walks by and she’s portrayed as “the loner” so it doesn’t make sense to me but hey.
• The show is pretty bad, 90% of the episodes have the same plot and there’s a ton of cringy dialogue. There’s only one or two compelling characters and only a few decent actors. Some characters have even less of a storyline than Matt Donovan or April Young from TVD. The monster of the week thing destroys the well-constructed mythology the parent shows have built over the years and it’s really repetitive and predictable.
• The storyline doesn’t seem to be moving towards something like in TVD or TO. Every episode is the same stuff over and over again. I could excuse this if this meant that there was more of a focus on developing characters and relationships but that doesn’t happen either.
• The complete shitstorm of ships in this show is absolutely ridiculous. Before I watched the show I heard about Hos!e, Pos!e, H@ndon, H@fael and whatnot. Especially the first two are mentioned a lot. Then I watched the show and I just don’t get the hype for even a single ship, but I get why there are so many ships. Nothing is a crackship in this show except for the two twins and it’s because the writers push everyone to be with everyone and don’t have a clear direction in mind for the romantic storylines of their characters. If someone is dating someone they also need to have “cute” scenes with someone else, and another one has to have a crush on them, and it needs to be mentioned that that character also had a crush on someone 5 years ago, and then the writers bring in another character or two to have a crush on the same character for no reason... and they have been dragging this out since episode 1! Whereas in TVD characters would usually move on (like Caroline and Elena would move on from their romantic storylines with Matt for example. Caroline gets with Damon, that goes wrong and she moves on to Matt, but then Tyler comes into the picture. Caroline gets with Tyler, eventually Klaroline comes along but by then M@ttoline (?) and D@roline (?) were already ditched a few miles back...). With Legacies you have these vague mentions and possibilities for romantic storylines but none are even really explored on their own or even in a love triangle (if the writers really have to do it that way) by having the characters going through stuff together. Instead they choose to keep every romantic option in the picture as mentions or relationships that don’t go much deeper than “I love you””I love you too” (nobody knows why but ok) which means some characters have like 7 ships that all have a decent fanbase and it’s wild.
• The awkward fact that Danielle Rose Russell (Hope) has more chemistry with Nick Fink (Ryan Clarke) than Aria Shahghasemi (Landon Kirby) makes me question things.
I’m still watching because I’m waiting for some TVD characters to appear and I like to hear old characters being mentioned but tbh I wouldn’t recommend it when there are so many other great shows out there. Just watch the Klaroline mentions online. I mean there are some decent scenes in there but 90% of the show makes me question my sanity. In the latest episode the writers decided Santa was real and they made him fight a monster by punching him in the face and at one point Santa is flying through the air and hitting a christmas tree while a rock version of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” is playing in the background and I wish I was joking. And that was the last episode before the hiatus. And they just left me there like that. After seeing that. In the TVD universe. I just imagine Klaus’s ghost hanging around and seeing that and I can’t hold my laughter. Or JoMo watching that stuff at home like....
And people still wonder why he doesn’t want to come back hahaha.
I understand why Bonnie fans wanted Bonnie and Damon together. Not just because they had a relationship in the books, their chemistry, or love from Bonnie & Damon. But because if Bonnie was allowed to be with a leading man, her treatment on the show would of had to be different.
Going back to season 3, Bonnie missing out on the Mikaelson Ball. That would not have happened if the writers were pushing her to date Damon or even one of the Mikaelsons like Elijah or Kol. This would mean Bonnie would be more included in things besides supernatural actions. This means Bonnie would have a chance of having more romantic scenes and funtimes with people outside of Elena. Season four and five were even more difficult to watch because of Bonnie was used. Everything was about her using magic to help someone and that's it. She dies to save Jeremy, comes back and dies again. We deserved to see more happy scenes with her that doesn't lead with her getting hurt right after or losing family members.
And yes Bonnie isn't the only one to lose her whole family. But compare Bonnie losing her Grams to Caroline losing her mom. Bonnie losing her dad to Caroline losing her dad.
Caroline had Klaus and Elena to support her on screen after Bill Forbes died. Sheriff Forbes had a big funeral and everyone got together for Caroline. And her entire arc after was about dealing with her mom's death, with Stefan by her side, we got to see dark Caroline and dark Stefan together building up SC to be together.
When Grams died, Bonnie left town, then returned and help Elena with Stefan. When Abby got turned, Caroline was the only one that helped Bonnie (and Abby). When her dad was killed by Silas, she watched the whole thing as a ghost and couldn't do a thing to save him. Then his funeral which she couldn't attend because she was dead and none of her friends knew nor did they care minus Jeremy.
These sort of writing made Bonnie fans feel like if she had a male character that was important to the writers maybe they'd view Bonnie as important as Elena and Caroline. They never did. When it felt like Bonnie and Damon wouldn't happen, they ask for Kol. The writers said no. They asked for Kai, the writers said no. They wanted Bonnie and Matt or possible Jeremy endgame if Steven McQueen returned. I know Malarkey was all for Bonenzo romance once it was announced Bonnie would be single and Jeremy was gone. Many fans were like maybe a love triangle with men fighting for her like we're seen happen with Elena and Caroline. Instead we got all whole mess from Caroline Dries about hate-love, cut his hand off and have him knock her out arc. Showing men to be violence towards a black woman, constantly, especially Damon being aggressive towards her regardless that she's his human friend. This was not the fighting over her we asked for but it's all we got.
There was a lot of anger, but as far as shipping goes, I think one of the reasons Bonnie fans get so aggressive towards certain ships is because we know which male characters Plec and Dries really like and we know the fanserve they are willing to give to certain people. Plec loves Ian, and Ian and Kat are close friends. Hoping with Ian's influence Kat could get more. Sadly that never happened. He tried though after season five, but what he had in mind especially knowing Nina was leaving, was not what the writers had in mind. I'm sure he hoped for Bonnie and Damon romantically, and to have more scenes with Kat. I'm sure it's what Kat would of loved to be treated as good as Nina was. Never happened. Season seven and eight should of given us so much Bennett witch action, I'd love if we gotten Denzo scenes with Bonnie, even without the romantic BD scenes, but the three as friend with Damon matchmaking his two friends together and them kicking huntress ass and Cade together. But no, we got Lily, the heretics, Cade, Sybil, Georgie and all this extra bs. Bonnie hardly had any real development, and a few Bonenzo scenes that weren't tragic.
Kat deserved more for someone who was there since season one and never left the show. Was loyal to her fans, Plec, Williamson, and CW. They did her wrong and us fans are still upset.
---
Very well worded, thank you ☺️ This has been the one thing that has made the most sense to me as someone who never saw the BD chemistry (remembering I wasn't in the fandom so all I saw of them was him killing her Mum, threatening her, telling Elena he didn't care enough about her, etc. - I'm adding that in because ppl have no idea how I didn't see it and honestly, reverse Uno, guys??)
I'll be brutally honest and I'm saying this now as BLM has shown that not speaking about this sort of thing is why we're here in the first place but I just don't think Julie cared enough about Bonnie to ever do that for her. I hear what you guys had hoped for but I think that came from a deep appreciation throughout the fandom. The fact Julie wanted Bonnie to live for Damon and Elena and then die with them as an old woman just shows the extent of Bonnie as a character in her mind. It's not only on TVD though, it's on so many American shows. The black character is third tier, like on TVD, Glee, Riverdale, True Blood, - hell, even some Netflix movie I watched the trailer for today called Valley Girl where they had a huge dance number on a pier with their supporting cast black character standing out awkwardly in a sea of white dancers.
I grew up with NZ TV where we have a lot of Poly or Maori representation on TV shows (although we can always do better) but because I was raised on more diverse TV, it seemed like TVD followed the standard "American show formula" and, tbh, that's how it went. So please don't find me as being dismissive of Bonnie fans (I'm only dismissive of Damon for reasons I've stated) but it's because I can't think of any other shows where the BIPOC third tier character rose the ranks to second tier or higher and stayed there. They either start there, like The Flash, or occasionally move into second tier like Bonnie did AFTER one of the leading characters left.
So when I say I don't understand, I think that's the subtext behind my meaning. Bonnie having a man to elevate her status on the show shouldn't be something she needed but lbr, it was. I just never saw them giving any indication of caring enough about her to do that 😔
Don't cancel me, Americans!
There’s been a lot of talk about series finales lately with so many shows having already ended, and quite a few shows ending soon, so of course there have been several memorable finales on my mind lately, so I decided to make a post about my thoughts on the most memorable ones.
I’m planning on tagging everything with proper anti tags, character names, and show names. If there’s something that I forget to tag, let me know and I’ll tag it correctly.
It gets lengthy so I’m putting it under a read more.
1. Game of Thrones
This will have probably the most polarizing of opinions, but I actually felt satisfied overall by what happened in this final season and series finale. I felt that there were things that could have been written better and things that I would have done differently, but overall, I enjoyed what happened.
Not everything that happened in this final season is what I would have chosen for the characters’ ends, and there are a few endings that I’m not satisfied with. Jaime Lannister being one of those. I felt that his storyline was going in a much different direction than dying with Cersei, and I’m still of the opinion that his ending should have been different. I’m not upset that he died because i expected him to, but I did expect a different death.
Sansa’s ending is my favorite ending and what I expected for her all along. Her becoming Queen in the North and outliving all of her abusers was so satisfying. Watching her being crowned queen brought a tear to my eye. Her story and character development from start to finish is one of my favorite character arcs to watch.
2. Teen Wolf
I’m not sure how much of an popular or unpopular opinion that this is, but I genuinely think that Teen Wolf’s series finale and the 2nd half of the final season is one of the most well written finales that I’ve seen in a long time.
The first half of the season was really leaving me with low expectations, and I didn’t like it at all, with there being so much focus on Stiles, a character who wasn’t even present for more than 2 episodes of the season. It’s not that I dislike Stiles; it’s that I wish that there was more focus on Scott.
The second half of the season really did focus on most of the characters in the way that I wanted it to. I really liked the emphasis put on Scott’s strength and leadership status. One of the most memorable scenes to me is Scott fighting the monster alone and literally gouging out his eyes so that he is able to defeat the monster.
My favorite moment of the finale was Derek’s return and his hug with Scott. It was such a sweet moment that really defined what Derek and Scott meant to one another.
I even liked the Scott and Malia ship. Although I hated how they wrote Kira out of the show and do still prefer Scott and Kira as a ship, Scott and Malia was well-written, and I did enjoy that they were endgame.
3. The Originals
I’m actually on a rewatch of this show now, so it’s been on my mind a lot. Overall, I didn’t hate this finale season. It wasn’t my favorite. This show is one of my favorite shows of all time. I enjoyed Klaus’s arc, and his desperation to save Hayley and to help his daughter. I liked watching Elijah become himself again after he was freed from the compulsion. I was happy that Davina and Kol were married and became endgame, that Rebekah and Marcel were going to get their happy ending.
I didn’t like that both Klaus and Elijah had to die. I didn’t like Hayley had to die. It’s not even the deaths of all three characters that bothered me about the final season; it’s the fact that I didn’t see that all three of them needed to happen. I can understand actors not wanting to be a part of the spinoff, but I feel that there were better ways to write these characters out than the endings that they were given. I do think that killing off both Klaus and Hayley was written so that Hope would have the challenge of being an orphan and having most of her family die be something that she has to overcome in Legacies. Afterall, I can’t think of a single main teenage character in The Vampire Diaries or The Originals that has either of their parents in their lives: Elena’s parents had died before the beginning of the show, Caroline’s parents were killed, Davina’s parents were killed before the beginning of the show, etc.
The sacrifices that were made by both Klaus and Hayley were absolutely beautiful. The scene that Hope meets Hayley in the afterlife made me cry and I wish that we would have gotten a scene of Jackson interacting with Hope.
I’m going to be a bit biased here and show that I don’t like the inclusion of Caroline in the final season. I’ve never liked Klaroline as a ship and didn’t particularly enjoy Caroline’s character in the final season of The Vampire Diaries. I felt that there were much better people for Klaus to have spent his final moments with and didn’t like that there was so much emphasis placed on Caroline during the episode that Hayley, the leading female of the show, dies.
Overall, I liked this show and its ending but have never felt truly satisfied by its ending. However, I do recognize that The Originals finale was meant to be the set up for Legacies and that it’s going to need to be critiqued on a different standard than a show that was meant to be a definitive ending for all of the characters.
4. Once Upon a Time
Once Upon a Time is one of my all-time favorite shows, even though there are several things throughout the show that I strong dislike. I’ll be honest, I’m going to be very petty about the actual final episode of the show because I really didn’t like it, despite enjoying the final season overall.
This is a show that I like to consider as having two series finales. The season 6 finale being the overall show’s finale. This was a perfect ending for the characters, in my opinion. Emma and Killian starting their life together. Regina and Emma co-parenting Henry. Snow White and Charming moving to their farmhouse. Even Belle and Rumple getting their happy ending. I do view season 7 as a spinoff rather than a continuation of the first six seasons; however, I’m going to talk about season 7 here.
I really enjoyed this season. I loved so many of the characters, and Henry’s arc was very well-written. Wish!Hook/Detective Rogers was my favorite part of the season, along with his relationship with Alice.
The series finale was a 2-part finale, and the first half was very strong. Seeing Charming and Snow again really made me happy. I had high hopes for the 2nd part of the finale that just weren’t met. This is where I get petty and like to pretend that part 2 doesn’t actually exist and was somehow erased because I disagree with a lot about it. This is where I start talking about what I wish would have happened as if it actually did.
I do dislike Regina, so of course this is biased against her. It’s also been a while since I watched the finale so some details may be muddled with part 1 details, so forgive me for that.
I really disliked that Regina is the one who inevitably turned Wish Henry to their side; she’s the one who he watched murder his grandparents and has blamed for his mother’s disappearance and destroying his life. I really think that it should have been Emma who was able to turn Henry to their side, and if not Emma, then adult Henry himself, as Henry knows what it’s like to feel hopeless and as if he has no family left.
I wished that baby Robin Hood would have been able to have the dream where she talks to Robin, her father, rather than Regina getting this moment. Robin, who has continued her father’s legacy and was never able to know her father, should have been given the moment of closure with her father that she never had before.
I also very much disliked the joining of all the realms. I would have been okay with it if it was just Storybrooke and the two Enchanted Forests or if there were doorways created so that travel between realms was made easier like the mermaids. I didn’t like joining all the realms because there were a lot of characters who I know wouldn’t have wanted this to happen. It took away titles of Queen and King from several characters: Elsa and Jasmine to be exact. It also invalidated Tiana’s arc from mere episodes before. Tiana had worked to feel as if she was worthy of Queen, and all the hardwork was nullified by crowing Regina the “Good Queen.” I didn’t only dislike this choice because of Regina but because of how many storylines were invalidated because of that choice.
Also, if we were going to crown someone “The Good Queen,” it’s not Regina. First of all, I really don’t like that title. Second of all, it should have been Snow White that was crowned Queen in the end, as she is the rightful queen of the Enchanted Forest.
5. Shadowhunters
Now, for the final noteable finale that I want to talk about, let’s talk about Shadowhunters. This list wasn’t made to be nice about these shows, and this is one that I always look back at and feel mad. Shadowhunters is a show that I have actually defended as a book to screen adaptation, but I can’t defend this final season or this finale.
Now, I do want to talk about what I enjoyed of this final season. I enjoyed Simon and Izzy’s relationship finally happening, even though it was rushed due to limited time because of the cancellation. Clary asking Isabelle to be her parabatai, which is something that I even wanted in the books, made me really happy. Clary continuing to be selfless and put everyone first was such a beautiful arc, even if I dislike how it ended for her.
And on to the things that I disliked--
Am I the only one who hated that they made Luke into a Shadowhunter again? Of course, being a werewolf doesn’t seem as if it was as important in the show as it was in the books, but it didn’t even feel as if Luke had any sort of feelings about being forced to be a shadowhunter against his consent.
I felt like this whole season was meant to be fanservice for Malec. It took a ship that I actually liked in the books, despite the issues that the relationship had, and liked in the beginning of the show and turned it into something that I strongly disliked. I felt like Alec didn’t understand a lot of what Magnus was feeling and didn’t understand what he needed. I’ve always felt like Alec was prioritized in this relationship to be honest. The wedding felt like it came too quickly and felt inorganic to me. Spoilers for the books: The wedding in the books is one of my favorite weddings in any type of media, and yes, I do compare the book wedding to the show wedding all the time, even if that is unfair of me. I still find it hard to believe that Alec would stay in New York when a crisis with Johnathan was happening at the LA Institute, where his father and younger brother were at the time. I can’t believe that the wedding was prioritized over every single thing that happened in that finale, and I will always dislike the wedding being prioritized so heavily.
The thing that I really hate about this finale is Clary’s ending. She spent the entire season battling between keeping her brother alive and doing what was right for the rest of the world. She ended up killing her own brother for the good of the world. Clary never put herself first once throughout this season, and there were still a lot of fans that heavily criticized her for everything that she did. In the end, her mother appearing to her to warn her not to use her powers that The Angels gave her solidified how much I hated this arc for her. She knew what using her powers to kill Johnathan would do and she did it anyway. She was punished for doing the right thing. Even worse, she suffered in silence while it was happening. She knew that she was losing her memories and her connection to the Shadow world but she didn’t want to ruin the wedding for her friends and walked out of the Institute without a word to anyone, to the love of her life, to her best friend, to her future Parabatai, to her father figure. She left Jace feeling like she left him, after he’s felt this way his entire life.
Worst of all, in the end, it seemed like no one other than Jace actually cared what she sacrificed. Her own father, Luke, didn’t seem to care and was happy with Maryse. Isabelle, who Clary chose to be her Parabatia, and Simon, her lifetime best friend, seemed to be more than happy. Magnus and Alec were perfectly content with everything. I can’t remember if any of these characters ever mentioned her name in the scenes at the end of finale. It was a great disservice to the relationship that these characters had with Clary.
Overall, I felt that Clary’s characterization and arc were consistent and on-point, but the ending left me dissatisfied and bitter toward this show as a whole. I’m not even sure that this is a show that I’m even willing to rewatch at some point.
By the next morning, Elizabeth and Hayley had grown a bit closer. Elizabeth had sprung plenty of ideas to Hayley. Many of them, Hayley couldnt believe that they were coming out of Elizabeth's mouth. But one of them stuck. A list. As simple as it was it had been a list of all of the members of the Strix that had taken them capture. And that had been enough for Hayley.
"I'll be happy to lend a hand." Elizabeth said with a grin on her face.
Hayley shook her head. "I have to do this on my own, but I will need your help." She said with a small smile. But Elizabeth knew Hayley was having a problem asking.
"Just spit it out woman. You wouldn't be asking if you really didn't needed it." Elizabeth said giving Hayley a slight glare.
"Can you keep him busy?" Hayley asked.
"Who? Elijah?" Elizabeth asked before giving her a look. "You expect him to believe that I need to spend time with him for two whole days while you slaughter members of the Strix?"
"It was your idea, Liz." It had taken Elizabeth by surprise that Hayley had used her nick name. Very few did so and there was a part of the vampire that had been glad that the two had seemed to be getting along so well.
"You are right." Elizabeth said with a nod. "I'll come up with something. But you must be prepared for when Elijah eventually finds out, Hayley. Its not a simple task you are trying to pull off."
Hayley nodded. "I know. It could mean an act of war. But if it means getting the revenge I seek for Jackson, it will all be worth it."
"I may have never met Jackson, but the way you speak of him is like you owe him, not that this is something you just want to happen." Elizabeth watched Hayley carefully as she spoke. But Hayley had only seemed to have retreated into her mind. "I'll leave you alone with your thoughts." Elizabeth walked out of Hayley's room in search for Malakai.
After several bars later, Elizabeth found Malakai drinking with a few of the vampires from the quarter in Rousseau's. As Elizabeth stood on one side of the room, she couldnt help but watch Malakai enjoying himself. He was laughing with a blonde vampire that he had his arm wrapped around. For once it seemed that Malakai was enjoying his freedom.
"You seem lost in thought." Elizabeth looked over at the person. Cami, Elizabeth noted. She had seen her twice since her arrival in New Orleans.
"I'm just glad my friend is happy. He hasn't been a bother has he?" Elizabeth looked back at Malakai, who had just taken another shot. Seeing as that it was only mid day, it didn't seem like the group cared much. They were enjoying himself.
"Besides drinking the bar clean, he has been well behaved." Cami noticed Elizabeth's head nod slightly.
"He has been through a lot. He deserves this, to be free."
"Free of Klaus's sire line?" Cami asked watching Elizabeth watch Malakai.
Elizabeth smiled and shook her head finally looking towards Cami. "That was just a plus. But Malakai has only been awake for about three years now." A confused look appeared on Cami's face and Elizabeth didn't hesitate to explain. "You see, there was a time when Klaus learned that he could make Hybrids. It was before he actually learned that he had to break the spell that his mother had placed on him." She nodded towards Malakai. "His curse had only been triggered for a month when Klaus picked his pack as a test trial."
Cami noticed the pause. She wondered if Elizabeth was going to continue her story but she noticed Elizabeth's eyes glass over. "You don’t have to finish." Cami said trying to bring some comfort to the vampire.
Elizabeth chuckled and blinked her eyes a few times. "It was a rough time for us, Cami. I thought I was going to lose my best friend that night. But thankfully a witch was willing to help, she died using a spell to put him to sleep until I could get my hands on doppelganger blood." A smile soon appeared on her face. "Now he is free and allowed to do as he wishes."
"You care a lot about him." Cami noted.
Elizabeth nodded. "He's the only family I have." Without saying another word, Elizabeth walked away and joined Malakai. His face lit up the moment he saw her.
"Liz! Welcome to the party, I thought you would have joined us last night." He said pulling her into a hug.
"I'd figure I'd let you get a lot of the partying out of your system before I joined. " She said with a smile.
Looking to the bartender Malakai ordered a round of drinks and pulled Elizabeth off to sit down and talk. While they had been in the came city for the last two days, they hadn't actually gotten a chance to sit down and talk for a moment.
"How are the Mikaelsons?" He asked watching her. He had a specific reason for asking and wanted to see the reaction on her face. Elizabeth knew what that specific question meant and she could only shake her head.
"I thought you were supposed to see Klaus." She said changing the subject. "He was ready to come looking for you. Saw you as a threat."
"Well you see, I got caught up in all the partying and figured my best friend would ease into a conversation somewhere with Klaus and say I was here." He had a playful grin on his face that Elizabeth enjoyed seeing. Elizabeth shook her head at him.
"Eventually you will need to speak with him. Preferably before things start to hit the fan again."
"What makes you think they will?" He asked.
"Its the Mikaelsons, when does anything stay calm for a long period of time?" Elizabeth's phone buzzed in her pocket. Taking it out she looked at the screen and placed it back. When she looked up at Malakai he had a raised eyebrow wondering who it was that had texted her, but Elizabeth ignored it. "Do you know where you will be at later?"
Malakai laughed. "No idea. Somewhere across the river. One of the vampires, Josh, said there was a party and I do not intend to miss it." He said with a smile.
Elizabeth laughed and stood up from her seat. "Maybe afterwards you can actually talk to Klaus like you wanted to."
Elijah stood on the balcony looking out at the city. He had spent the day helping Klaus search for any remnants of the white oak. They had found none. Elijah hoped that this would be the end of his brother's constant paranoia. The only weapon that could kill them had been destroyed completely and Elijah hoped that it would bring some peace to both his brother and the city. But Elijah had known better. Things were changing and eventually the peace would be gone in a matter of moments.
Elizabeth leaned against the entry way to the balcony watching Elijah. The man always looked so lost in thought. Part of her wanted to leave him to his thoughts and find some other time to ask the questions that had been going through her own mind for several years. But if she held the questions back, she would never really know what she wanted to know.
"Elijah." Her voice had been soft, almost childlike.
"I was wondering when you would actually speak." There was a hint of humor in his voice. He didn't turn to look at her though. His eyes stayed on the city before him.
"I was debating on if I should bother you or not." She said taking the few steps out onto the balcony and stood beside him.
"You have never been a bother, Elizabeth." He said looking over at her with a small smile.
"Are you sure about that?" She asked with a smile. "I was a rather energetic child once."
"And you kept many on their feet, but you were never a bother." A small giggle passed Elizabeth's lips.
Elizabeth had only been four when the Originals had found their way into her village seeking shelter from Mikael. Elizabeth's father had welcomed the family with open arms and helped them settle into a new life. While they still continuously looked over their shoulder, they had tried going on with their lives. Elijah had befriend Elizabeth's father and they had spent a lot of time developing the village the best they could. It was the times where Elizabeth's father and Elijah would be looking over plans that Elizabeth would come running through and interrupt them from their task. Life had been peaceful for a little over a year before Kol fueled Klaus's paranoia.
"I never thanked you for that night, Elijah." Elizabeth said with a small nod.
"How could you, you were only five." Elizabeth could hear the tinge of guilt in his voice. "I could not stand by and watch my brothers kill another innocent. Especially a child."
Kol had fueled Klaus's paranoia of Mikael finding them enough that he had willingly agreed to help Kol slaughter the village. Elizabeth and her mother had went for a walk that night. When they returned to the village, everyone had been killed. Before Elizabeth and her mother could run and hide, Kol managed to get a hold of her mother, leaving Elizabeth running into the forest on her own as she heard her mother's screams.
"Why didn't you do it?" Elizabeth asked. She had always wondered why Elijah hadn't compelled her to forget anything. He had only compelled her to stay calm and not to tell anyone their secret.
"I couldn't give you an answer for I hardly know myself." Elijah said with a slight nod. "Though if I had, I wouldn't have gone to check on you."
"You came and checked on me?" Elizabeth had been shocked by his words. After the night her village had been slaughtered, Elijah took Elizabeth into another village and she had been accepted by a family. After that, she didn't see Elijah again for some time. She never knew he had taken the time to check on her. He never once made himself known during that time.
"Circumstances, remember?" His words caused her to chuckle. "While I had left you with the memories of creatures of the night, I had always gone back to check to see if you were living a normal life. Which you were, until things changed."
"And that was when I started seeing you around again." She nodded completely understanding what he meant by 'until things changed'. Elizabeth had been courted by a man that came from a wealthy family. And while everything had gone according to plan with the courting, it was after the marriage that things got difficult. Before Elijah could say anything, she changed the subject. "Its been almost eight hundred years, Elijah. That's a lot of missed birthdays you have to catch up on."
Of course she had been joking but it did the trick. Elijah laughed and shook his head at her. "You'll have to forgive me, the past eight hundred years have been quite difficult."
"You mean with your paranoid brother who likes to dagger you and keep you in a wooden box from time to time." She said with a smirk growing on her lips. "But I get it. Always and Forever."
Elijah looked at Elizabeth with a smile. She in fact did understand what Always and Forever meant to him and his family. It was just like Elijah knew it applied to her and Malakai. She'd go to the ends of the Earth for the people she cared for. There was no stopping her from saving those she cared for. Elijah knew in that moment, circumstances aside, Elizabeth was there to help them. And while he wouldn't tell her that Klaus still had his doubts about her intentions in New Orleans, Elijah believed that there was no danger in the woman he had watched grow up.
The emergency contact one??
From a list of exes to lovers prompts. I wrote this in one sitting at work, so no readover, but I hope you guys like it! Dedicated to @goldcaught, who had to sit with the fact that I was writing a kc threesome like a champ. I can’t tell if the cut worked. Sorry!
xxx
Caroline froze as the familiar opening notes of a very pointed break up song blared out from her phone, too surprised to reach for it. She’d never expected Klaus to call her again, and the fact that he’d have known she’d be at work made her even less inclined to give him the time of day.
“Taylor Swift? Really?” her officemate drawled.
Caroline resisted the urge to attack Liv with the nearest heavy office supply, settling for an icy glare. The clip started over and Caroline snatched the phone from her desk to silence it, hesitating at the words on the screen.
Klaus (Work)
Why would he be calling from his office phone? She only had the number for emergencies when he wasn’t answering his personal phone, and even when he had called her from work it had always been on his cell. “I have to take this,” Caroline said. It could be important, right? Why else would he call?
It wasn’t that she still wanted to hear his stupid smug voice.
In a rare showing of being able to read the fucking room, Liv excused herself, closing the office door behind her.
Caroline swallowed, swiping across the screen before she lost her nerve and holding it to her ear. “Hello?”
“Hi. Is this Caroline Forbes?” a definitely American, definitely female voice asked.
Caroline frowned. “Yeah. Why—“
“You’re Klaus’s emergency contact, right?”
Caroline felt her heart drop to her stomach, her lungs suddenly feeling like lead. “Yeah, I’m his...Is he...Is something wrong?”
She felt like she couldn’t breathe, her hands shaking so hard that she nearly dropped the phone as the woman talked. There had been an accident, she said. Someone had been going down the stairs on their phone and had knocked into him. He’d fallen a few flights of stairs. Four or five, maybe? She wasn’t sure, but of course they’d called the ambulance immediately. That she understood that it must be a shock, and the company was so sorry. The company’s thoughts were with her at this difficult time, of course. It must be a bit overwhelming, she knew, but they did have his briefcase and a few personal belongings, and if Caroline might want to—
“What hospital?” Caroline interrupted impatiently. “Where is he?”
“St. John’s Medical Foundation. But we just have one or two things for you to sign—“
“If you think I’m going to drive across town to sign paperwork when my fiance is in the hospital—“
“Of course, I just meant—“
“Send someone over with his stuff,” Caroline said impatiently, already grabbing her purse and pulling on her jacket. “Consider me notified. Bye.”
She didn’t think twice about rushing out, Liv giving her a sympathetic look when Caroline explained briefly where she was going, promising to pass the news along to Meredith.
Her fingers were shaking as she walked through the parking lot pawing through her purse for her keys, and she swore when she realized she left them on her desk. Waiting for her uber took too much time, gave her an opportunity to think about why she was dropping everything to make sure he was okay. They’d broken up six months ago after a colossal argument that had left her sobbing and raw, his expression stoney and resolute as he packed an overnight bag.
He hadn’t even come to get his things, and it wasn’t like she was going to do him the favor of gathering them. All of his stuff was in boxes in the garage, pushed against the wall and neatly labeled. It was her house after all, her Mom having left her everything she owned, and Klaus could more than afford movers to gather his stuff and bring it to his new probably-swanky apartment in a highrise.
He had probably held off just to be petty, to make her look at his stuff and feel her heart break all over again. She hated that she still missed him, had blocked Rebekah’s number after the thinly-veiled hints that Klaus missed her too.
Of course he did. She was a fucking catch.
She shivered, regretting her decision to wear a light jacket. It wasn’t like she expected to be standing in the freezing cold waiting for April-in-a-white-Prius relitigating all of her Klaus-related feelings, but still.
The drive wasn’t any better, the jaunty Christmas music on the radio only making everything worse. April apparently didn’t have any understanding of how social cues worked, trying to engage her in a conversation about holiday plans despite Caroline’s short answers, and she was thankful when they finally pulled up to the hospital.
When she arrived at Klaus’s hospital room she felt her throat close, her eyes filling with tears. He had his eyes closed, though it wasn’t clear whether he was sleeping or unconscious. The nurse that arrived a few minutes later gave her a small smile, gesturing to the guest chair by the bed.
“He’ll be fine,” she said, giving Caroline a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “He was lucky. A concussion isn't anything to sneeze at of course, but with a little rest he’ll be fine. Just keep an eye on him and make sure he stays in bed. We’ll keep him until tonight to get all his injuries sterilized and wrapped up and then I’ll get you some instructions for his care. If all goes well you can take him home tonight.”
“Me?” Caroline squeaked, belatedly realizing at the nurse’s raised eyebrows that of course the nurse would think that was why she was there. “Um, okay.”
What was she supposed to do? Say no? Let him rot?
“You can stay until then if you like. He’s just sleeping.”
“Thanks,” Caroline said, feeling a bit awkward. She pulled out her phone, hoping for a distraction.
[Bonnie]: Are you okay?? Liv said you’re at the hospital!!
[Bonnie]: Caroline???
[Bonnie]: Do I need to come over?????
Caroline winced, trying to weigh how to respond.
[Caroline]: I’m fine. Don’t worry. I’m apparently still Klaus’s emergency contact. He fell down the stairs, apparently.
[Bonnie]: Good.
[Caroline]: OMG BONNIE!!!!!!!!
[Bonnie]: Am I supposed to pretend to like him again?
[Caroline]: Not sure yet. Stay tuned.
[Caroline]: btw can you do me a favor?
[Bonnie]: Depends...
[Caroline]: Can you drive my car to the hospital? Keys are on my desk.
[Caroline]: I’ll pay for your uber back AND buy you dinner.
[Bonnie]: Fine. I’m about to leave work anyway.
Caroline sent a string of heart emojis and looked up when she heard a groan, catching her breath when Klaus stirred, his eyes opening slowly.
She licked her dry lips, resisting the urge to grab his hand. “Hey.”
He moved his head to look at her fast enough that he winced, reaching to touch his head and swearing under his breath.
“Don’t hurt yourself,” she said, knowing she sounded like she was scolding but not particularly caring. “I’ll call the nurse. I know you hate that.”
He snorted, laying back against the pillows.
“Why’re you here?”
She raised her eyebrows. “Hi to you too, you jerk. FYI its because your work called. Apparently you weren’t organized enough to change your emergency contact.”
“Did you?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Of course,” she lied, feeling a pang in her chest when she saw a flash of hurt. “What? You were pretty clear about not wanting me to bother you.”
He took a deep, shaky breath. “And yet, you’re here.”
“Do you want me to go? I’m happy to leave you to have a pity party all by yourself.”
“Don’t go,” he said quickly, too quickly, and she felt a bit satisfied at his hasty answer even though she knew she shouldn’t.
She sat back in her chair with her arms crossed, and he sighed, staring at the ceiling. “Sorry, sweetheart.”
“You don’t get to call me that.”
His lips thinned, and they lingered in awkward silence for a few seconds before she changed the subject. “The nurse said you can go home tonight. I’ll drive you.”
“All right.”
“You’re welcome.”
He smiled slightly, still not looking at her. “Thank you, Caroline. I do appreciate you taking the time. Truly.”
She huffed. “Whatever.”
She checked the clock, wondering when the nurse would be back. She was starting to regret coming, was mad at herself that she’d thought there would even be a slight chance of him being anything but a total asshole. She should have learned her lesson, honestly.
“Why are you really here, Caroline?”
“I told you, your work called, and—“
“You could have texted Bekah or Elijah. Or Kol, if you felt like being particularly vindictive. Lord knows I don’t deserve your help after what I did.” She smiled slightly. That he was totally right about, at least. “But you’re here. Why?”
She sighed, staring past his bed at the shades of the hospital window. “I wanted to make sure you were okay,” she admitted. “Yeah, we broke up, but we were together for four years. It’s not like I stopped caring about you just because you were a Grade-A jerk.”
He looked almost confused when she met his eyes. Surprised. Hopeful, even?
She looked down at her hands, clearing her throat. “Anyway, I’ll just—“
“I never stopped loving you, Caroline,” he interrupted, and she looked up at him in surprise.
“Umm...Thanks?”
His lips twisted into a smile that held no humor. “I tried to. Pretended that what happened wasn’t at all my fault. Hoped I could walk away and let you go, and I couldn’t.”
“What happened was your fault,” she couldn’t help but point out, her need for I-told-you-sos a convenient excuse to ignore how quickly her dumb traitor heart was melting.
His lips quirked, his hand moving as though he was hoping to take hers. “I want to be with you, Caroline.”
“You have a concussion and just nearly died. I don’t think now is the time for big confessions.”
“I’ve wanted to say it since the moment I left.”
“Then why didn’t you?” she asked, trying to quell the hurt but giving up almost immediately, letting her voice shake.
“I didn’t think you wanted...” he trailed off, but she waited for him to finish. “Me. Us.”
“You never asked.”
“Do you?” he asked, looking at her with clear trepidation.
“I did,” she said slowly, not meeting his eyes. “I mean, I do in theory, but...”
“But I was a prick,” he finished.
“To put it nicely.”
He was quiet for a second before taking a deep breath and giving her the same look that had always stolen the breath from her lungs. “It’s your choice, of course. But I love you, Caroline. And I’m sorry for hurting you.”
She swallowed. “Thanks.”
She wanted to forgive him, couldn’t imagine her life without him, and every part of her was screaming for her to admit what both of them knew, that she wanted him too.
“One chance,” she said finally.
“One is all I need, sweetheart. I promise.”
5x13 Spoilers for The Originals
I’m beyond angry at this point. I was honestly trying to give Julie Plec the benefit of the doubt, because any other person would have learned their lesson with the backlash they received from The Vampire Diaries. I guess she didn’t. What could have been a beautiful goodbye to ample characters in The Originals, was destroyed by lazy writing.
There’s several routes this finale could have been written to at least make SOMEONE happy. Heres a few ideas just off the top of my head:
1.) Elijah takes all of the dark magic, dies and finds peace with Hayley. Not only would this stay true to Elijah’s character, because he’s sacrificing his life for Klaus, but the character would be happiest with the love of his life. After the death of Hayley, this makes sense. Klaus would be alive to raise his daughter.
2.) Seperating the dark magic into four objects. It’s been done before, and yes may be a temporary solution, but everyone would be ALIVE. For instance, give Elijah, Klaus, Rebekah and Kol all a cursed object and have them indvidually hide it. If each sibling were to swear to never tell another soul where it’s hidden, there would definitely be enough time to find a very permanent solution.
3.) Taking the darkness, putting it in someone they hate and killing them. For example. Aurora!!
I’m sure anyone, slightly creative or worthy of having a TV Show could have come up with that or something a lot better. I REFUSE to watch another series written by Julie, only to have the main characters die an “honorable death”. It’s pathetic.
Also a couple sidenotes that really made me mad:
1.) saying Klaroline couldn’t have been endgame because she didn’t want to “dishonor Stefan”. Regardless of what you ship, thats a stupid fucking excuse!! Not only did Stefan know Klaus had feelings for Caroline and would do anything to protect her, I don't believe Stefan would be that petty. Stefan was always selfless (in my opinion) to those he loved. He would want her to be happy. Plus its been a decade, she should be allowed to move on at some point.
2.) Marcel and Klaus didn’t get any screen time together in the finale. The entire show explored their father-son relationship, but he didn’t give him a proper goodbye?
3.) I don't believe Rebekah would have really dealt with losing the two brothers she was closest to, so well. At the time she didn’t know Elijah would be dying too, but while Klaus was, she slept with Marcel?? She loved them both so much, and she's proved that over and over again.
4.) I think Hayley would have never approved of Klaus leaving Hope with other solutions on the table. She would have wanted him to fight, for their daughter.
5.) In a recent interview she said she would have “thought twice about saying goodbye to both of them.”, if Joseph and Daniel would have come to Legacies!! She deadass killed two of her best characters because she was bitter at the actors who play them.
I don't know, maybe its just me, being really invested in this show. Regardless, I refuse to give “Legacies” the time of day. Not because I don’t think it would be interesting, but because of the main writer....
An Ode to Klaus Mikaelson
Before I go on this crazy journey of breaking down my thoughts from the last two weeks I have to admit that I've not been here from the beginning. I only started TVD two weeks ago and fell instantly inlove with this character. Call it sadism, call it a hero-complex of wanting to save him, call it projection. Whatever it is, I've felt quite some things since learning that he died in TO. I stopped watching TVD four seasons in because really, what was the point?! Anyway, I digress:
THE SOURCE MATERIAL
We all know that TVD was loosely based on the books who by their own right is a bunch of trash once the original author got fired. But it should be known that Klaus Mikaelson was the bad guy. Not "the guy to be redeemed", not "the guy who falls inlove", not "the guy who becomes a parent". HE WAS THE BAD GUY, AND THE BAD GUY WHO DIED!
So he's development as a character was all because of the sheer power and charisma with which Joseph Morgan plays him. Even the foreshadowing of the character prior to his physical introduction alluded to a dark, paranoid and isolated character. Honestly I was expecting a brooding Bruce Wayne type. So I imagine that when JM got in front of the camera and showed the writers his portrayal, a lot of his character arc changed. Suddenly he wasn't the biggest bad of S3 anymore. They had to come up with something else to continue JM's sheer brilliance.
HIS HUMANITY
Now, many says that Klaus's humanity switch was off before he met Caroline and there's plenty merit to this. He's relentless in his pursuit of starting the ritual to make himself the ultimate hybrid. The ritual itself attests to that. He kills Jenna and Elena without a second thought. Even after witnessing all the love that Elena has in her life. And I imagine he killed hundreds more in his quest for hybrid supremacy so what was one more?
He then starts making hybrids. The proudest of which he is of, is Tyler. After 1000 years though in pursuit of his goal and achieving it, he becomes mildly interested in the attachment Tyler has to Caroline. He even calls it an experiment. But then Caroline is bitten. And although he doesn't know her, he jumps at the opportunity to have the Town's sheriff beholden to him for saving her. But our ancient one doesn't quite predict the effect she has on him. Here's an innocent being, full of life, that doesn't want to die. And I imagine, in Klaus's 1000 years, he's rarely come across a vampire that WANTED to be and stay a Vampire. AND THAT IS WHY HE SAVES HER!
HIS AMUSEMENT AND INFATUATION
Now this as we all know can be broken down in multiple facets but the gist of it is... He's drawn to her light. He's drawn to her innocence, her honesty. And Caroline? She's drawn to the evil creature she's been programmed into hating. But he's not quite so evil, is he. Atleast not with her. He shows her his art, he tells her his inner-most feelings. He breaks down his fears. And for the fact that she accepts all this vulnerability, Klaus falls inlove with her. And not once... Not once does she ask him to change. Why? Because Klaus knows he'll never be worthy of her if he doesn't prove it. And she knows, as the time passes on that what he feels for her will sufficiently motivate him to change. So he ends their relationship with the most powerful promise ever to grace our television screens..."I INTEND TO BE YOUR LAST, HOWEVER LONG IT TAKES"
THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
Now, here's where I may stand fully corrected on most things because I haven't watched beyond TVD S4 or TO, but I've read sufficiently and seen enough videos to last me a bit. But we all know (those of us who are parents) what a child brings to our lives. They change us. Suddenly we're no longer selfish, suddenly we'd die for someone else, suddenly their well-being and safety means more to us than anything else. Even if that means that we have to remove ourselves from their lives. This is what Klaus does. But he cannot resist the pull the child has on his heart and soul. He cannot help himself but want to give her anything she wants, teach her his art, teach her how to be a wolf (it still peevs me a bit that we only ever see him shift once), watch her grow. But he knows about all the monsters in the world who would want to hurt her. The biggest of which is him. So he goes about trying to make a monster-free world for her, starting with himself. And along the way, some significant relationships evolve for him
CAMILLE
I've seen enough of this relationship to know what it was. A stepping stone. And quite frankly the writers could have actually just put Klaus on a couch like Tony Soprano and it would've had more of an impact. Her entire story arc revolved around him. No personal growth, no self-preservation, no survival instinct. He hurt her, he compelled her against her will, he dissapointed her. If she honestly meant that much to him, he would have never dreamt of doing any of that. But what Klaus got out of it was again... Another experiment. What is the boundaries with this copy? What will break her? What will infuriate her to the point she walks away? What will it take to have her stick around. What can I take out of this and use to my atvantage with the original? Alright, hypothesis proven?! Time to move on.
ELIJAH
This character reminded me so much of Angel from BTVS. He's so tragic and forlorn but for some or other reason, always hopeful. Much like our other Hero from this Universe, Stefan. And he's relationship with his brother is the most tragic of all. It's his Baby Brother. He promised to protect him all those years ago and never did. Perhaps that of which contributed to Klaus's downward spiral into madness and lonliness. Mikael would not have been around had Elijah fulfilled his promise centuries ago. Klaus may have lived his life differently. But for the way it turns out, Elijah will forever have lived with this guilt. Which is why he dies along with his brother. He's entire purpose in life was his brother's redemption and he may have achieved it when Klaus did the most natural and selfless act known. Sacrificed his own life to save his daughters'. Klaus however counted on his brother to always have his back. Even when it meant Elijah pulling him back from the pits of hell he so often loved to go to. And he trusted his brother to do so above all else. Perhaps why Elijah was the only not to be carted around in a coffin for decades or centuries. So it only made sense for these two to have died with each other.
THE ORIGINAL SIBLINGS
Each and every one of them had a unique bond with Klaus. From Rebekah down to Kol. With Rebekah, Klaus has always wanted to protect his little sister from her lonely heart. Granted he went about it all wrong for centuries, even up until the last moments with Marcel. But he did what any big brother did. With Freya, I suspect their was a huge amount of respect for each other. I've not seen enough this relationship to form any other opinion. Kol and Klaus though? What a pair?! They are so volatile around one another. Great when getting along, sheer destructive when not. Then again, so are most siblings.
What Klaus's family was to him though was his centre. You see it in the final season of TO... The season where Klaus redeems himself.
CAROLINE REUNION AND REVELATIONS
How tragic is it, that after all Klaus's development as a character, that he was still so vulnerable around her? His reactions to her affirmations of how he matters. His reactions to learning that she cares. That she came looking for him. After all these years, Klaus Mikaelson still did not believe he was worthy of her. And when she told him he was? He was floored. And he was devasted. Because suddenly he could see it. He could see the future they could have. He could see himself showing her the world, the beauty, all the experiences of life he promised her. Except this future was blurred out and fading fast... Just as his time.
THE END OF KLAUS
He didn't get his happily ever after. He didn't get to watch his daughter grow. He didn't get to be with the woman he loved. He did however get his redemption...
In the eyes of his daughter, his friends, his family and his love. His brother.
And so ended the life of a powerful 1000 year old vampire/werewolf hybrid who started out as the devil and ended as the fallen angel.
I understand the ending of this character. I understand his tragedies, his highs and lows, his loves and hates. I also understand why he ended the way he did. Because anyone, anyone evil capable of love, deserves to be redeemed...
Here's to you Klaus... I will never forget you
One Two Three Four Five Six
You sat with your cousin Elena on the plane. You spent most of the flight to your destination just catching up. You also enjoyed some time with Damon after Elena had dropped off. You had always like Damon and you were extremely happy when you found out that Elena and Stefan broke up. Elena had come and visited you for a while after the breakup. That’s how you first met Damon he had followed her all the way to your place to keep an eye on her.
After meeting Damon, you immediately knew that the vampire was head over heels in love with Elena and wanted your cousin to be happy, which was obvious that Damon did.
When it got closer to landing, Damon went to sit with Elena leaving you alone with Kol. Kol took the seat next to you and you laced your hand with his.
“Thank you for this,” You told him.
Kol leaned forward to give you a soft kiss.
“I wanted more alone time with you, but I could tell that you’ve been missing your family,” Kol explained.
You ran a hand through his hair. He caught your free hand and then pressed a kiss to your palm.
“Rich could never forgive our dad for what he did and how Elena’s parents handled the situation. So once our parents died, Rich wanted nothing to do with our Aunt and Uncle, which meant Elena and I’s relationship was affected, but we did the best we could to stay updated in each other’s lives,” You explained.
“I want you to know that whenever you want to go visit her or have them come here my home is open to you and your family,” Kol told you.
Again you leaned in and captured his mouth with yours. The two of you spent several minutes attached at the lips. Damon cleared his throat breaking you two apart.
“Alright, you two, the plane is landing,” Damon said.
Kol pulled away smirking and you could feel yourself blushing. Everyone took their seats and buckled in.
You watched out the window as the plane descended. When the pilot said the four of you could leave, Damon and Kol moved to grab everyone’s carry on bags, while you and Elena quickly exited the plane.
A limo was already waiting for the four of you. The driver took the luggage from the guys as you and Elena climbed into the car.
“I definitely did not pack right for this beautiful weather,” You said.
“Yeah, Kol, I don’t think you remember what it’s like being human,” Elena added.
“Well, when we get to the hotel, why don’t you two girls go shopping,” Kol suggested opening his wallet and pulled out a credit card.
“Kol,” You began.
“I don’t even want to hear an argument. It’s a vacation, I love spoiling you, and you two deserve it,” Kol explained.
“Wait, no, Kol, you don’t have to buy my things,” Elena argued.
Kol held up a hand.
“I steered you two wrong, this is what I can do to make up for it,” Kol explained.
“Alright, so what’s our limit?” Elena asked.
Kol laughed. “That’s sweet of you to ask, just go, have fun, shop until you both are content,”
You eyed Kol and Damon.
“And just what will you two be up to?” You asked.
Both boys smirked.
“Oh that’s not good,” Elena said.
“I agree with my cousin,” You said.
At the hotel, the boys shoved the both of you out of the limo.
“Go on and enjoy the afternoon. We’ll meet you back here in a few hours before dinner,” Kol said.
“Are you sure?” You asked.
Kol and Damon shoved the two of you away from the hotel.
“Go,” Both of them urged.
Elena and you looked at each other before finally taking off on an adventure. With hooked arms, the two of you strolled downtown and started to wander through all of the shops buying things that the two of you thought were necessary to have.
“What do you think about this dress?” You asked your cousin holding up the piece.
“Yes! You’d look great in that,” Elena grinned.
You hooked the dress over your arm and continued through the store grabbing items here and there.
“Y/n, what do you think about this romper?” Elena asked.
“Um, yes! That’s so you,” You smiled.
Checking out, your phone dinged, you looked down to see Kol’s name on the screen. You opened the text to see that Kol was letting you know that he and Damon had dinner plans for 7:30 pm.
“Hey, we need to be back by 7 to get ready,” You said as Elena took her bag and receipt from the cashier.
Elena checked the time.
“Well we have some time left let’s keep shopping,” Elena suggested.
You and your cousin spent the next couple hours and shopped until you couldn’t stand it anymore. The two of you finally started to make your way back towards the hotel. Damon was in the lobby waiting for you two.
“There you two are,” Damon grinned.
“We’re alive,” Elena teased.
Damon kissed her before dropping a kiss on the top of your head.
“Well let me take your bags,” Damon said eyeing your guys’ armful of bags.
“You don’t need to,” You said.
Elena happily gave her bags over to her boyfriend.
“I’m going to go grab us drinks while we get ready,” Elena grinned wiggling her eyebrows before dancing away.
Chuckling, you and Damon headed towards the room. Damon walked slow enough so Elena would have enough time to catch up to the two of you so she could see where the room was.
“Did you have a good time?” Damon asked.
You looked up at him.
“I know that’s not the real question you want to ask,” You said with a laugh.
Damon smirked.
“You’re right, it’s not,” Damon said.
“Come on Dam, you know I’m always honest with you,” You replied.
Damon sighed.
“He hasn’t compelled you, has he?” Damon asked.
You giggled.
“No, not since we first met,” You said.
Damon turned his glare to you.
“Relax, okay? It’s different with Kol, Damon. I feel like I’m a princess when I’m with him,” You explained.
Damon nodded.
“You know I wouldn't be with him out of fear, Damon. I won’t do another abusive relationship. I just won’t,” You told him.
At the thought of your ex, Damon let out a low growl.
“Relax,” You whispered to him.
“I should have killed that bastard when I had the chance,” Damon snarled.
“He isn’t worth it,” You told him.
Elena finally caught up with the two of you.
“You guys didn’t have to wait for me,” Elena said.
“And just how would you find the hotel room and get in?” Damon shot back.
“Oh yeah,” Elena said.
You laughed.
The two of you followed Damon down to the hotel room. Damon slid the key in and then pushed open the door.
“Yours and Kol’s room is attached through that door,” Damon said.
“Thanks,” You told him before disappearing through the adjacent door.
You found Kol crossed legged on the bed, his computer in his lap and his phone pressed to his ear. He looked up at you with a large smile. He motioned to you that it would be only a few more minutes. You nodded and headed towards the bathroom to get around for dinner.
--------------
Later that night, long after dinner and a walk on the beach with Kol, Elena, and Damon, you were back in your room with Kol. The dress that you bought earlier was thrown onto the floor and you were currently wrapped up in Kol’s arms with your head resting on his chest.
“Thank you for this,” You told him.
Kol kissed the top of your head.
“Anything for you, love,” Kol said.
“You mean that?” You asked him turning your big eyes up at him.
Kol only smiled.
“Of course,” Kol answered.
“Then can I ask for something?” You said.
“Anything, love,” Kol replied.
You bit your lip hesitant to ask, but you knew you had to press this matter.
“I want to meet your siblings, Kol,” You told him
Kol stiffened under your touch.
“I know you have issues with them, Kol, but I eventually need to meet them before they tear apart New Orleans to do so,” You explained.
Kol sighed.
“I’m not asking to become best friends with them Kol, but if you and I keep getting more serious like we are, I have to at least be introduced to them,” You said.
Kol played with your fingers as he thought it over.
“You’ll be there and we can leave whenever you think it’s necessary to leave. We can do it at a mutual space so we’re not trapped at their place,” You told him.
Kol finally looked down at you.
“Do you really want to meet them?” Kol asked.
You nodded.
“There are reasons why I don’t like being around my siblings,” Kol finally spoke.
“What happened?” You asked him.
“Klaus has always been the one in charge, you know. He always thinks he knows what’s for the best for all of us. Sometimes it was nice, but then most of the time it’s a mess,” Kol began.
“Tell me,” You urged him.
“When we would misbehave, do something that was out of Klaus’s control he used to stake us and keep us locked away in a coffin for decades at a time,” Kol explained.
“It was mostly Rebekah and me, but Elijah got it a lot as well. Klaus only looks out for his best interest. It’s his way or the highway,” Kol said.
“And why aren’t all of you locked away with a stake in your chest now?” You asked him.
“Our mother came back with our sister Freya. Hell I was killed in the whole situation with the Salvatore brothers, but mother brought me back,” Kol said.
“How did you and Freya end back with Kol?” You questioned.
“Our mother was out of control. Worse than Klaus, Freya and I knew that our best chances to stay alive was to side with Klaus,” Kol said.
“It was nice being back though. Klaus has a daughter with Hayley. She’s an amazing woman and Hope is a brilliant little girl. I’m completely smitten with her. Rebekah and I always had the best relationship and then there’s Elijah. He’s one of my favorite siblings, but I would never admit that to him,” Kol explained.
“For a while there it felt great being back and being powerful. To be with my family and rule New Orleans like we were supposed to be a great feeling,” Kol said.
“But?” You said.
“But, I fell in love. She was a powerful witch. Klaus and the others were scared of her. They feared what she could end up doing to us. I pleaded, begged, and tried showing them that Davina meant no harm to us. That she loved me and that she would do anything to help keep us safe,” Kol said his voice cracked at the end.
“What happened to Davina?” You asked him.
Kol said nothing for a long time. You could see that he was trying to hold back tears.
“They killed her. Sacrificed her to try and appease,” Kol stopped as the memories came running back.
“I’m sorry Kol,” You whispered.
Kol shook his head.
“I tried everything to get her to come back. To bring her back to life, but it was too late. Davina was gone and I lost her forever,” Kol finished.
You laced your hand with his, squeezing it to let him know that it was okay and that you were here for him.
“I haven’t loved anybody since Davina, that is until I met you,” Kol said.
You looked up at him.
“I love you Y/n, god I love you so much. And if Klaus was to realize just how much I loved you I worry that he would destroy you to keep me in line,” Kol admitted.
You sat up so you could wipe away some of his tears.
“Kol, you don’t know that. I’m a human. I’m a nobody. I have no way to destroy you, or an original, or a hybrid. You can’t worry that Klaus is out to kill me,” You told him.
Kol brought your hand up to his lips and kissed it.
“I can’t even think about losing you,” Kol whispered.
You leaned down to kiss him.
“This is crazy. Stupid, even, but I love you too, Kol,” You whispered against his lips.
Kol sighed before leaning back and pulling you down to rest against him.
“If anything were to happen to you because of Klaus,” Kol began, but you cut him off.
“If you keep thinking that something bad will happen, then something bad will happen, Kol, but I don’t think that’s the case,” You said.
“Just how are you so sure?” Kol asked.
You smiled up at him.
“Because you love me and I love you. I know that you’ll keep me safe no matter what,” You said.
Kol sighed.
“Which means, I still want to meet your siblings, Kol. They are apart of you and if we have a future together then they are going to be apart of me as well,” You said.
“Alright, fine, you can meet them,” Kol gave in.
You gave him a huge smile.
“But it will be on my terms,” Kol said.
“I’m perfectly fine with that!” You exclaimed.
Kol rolled over pinning you underneath him you giggled.
“We’ll discuss it more when we get home, but the rest of the trip I don’t want you mentioning any of my sibling's names,” Kol growled.
You kissed his nose.
“That’s a promise,” You grinned.
Tossing the blankets over your guys’ heads you began to giggle as Kol kissed his way down your body.
Being in love sure did feel like you had won the lottery.
Paradox (Kol)
Kol’s whole body trembled as he watched the video for the nth time. It played on the small screen of what they had called a “laptop”.
Mortals these days with their inventions.
Moving on to the video that played on the screen. It was a woman of [H/C] locks and foxy [E/C] eyes. To Kol, she was the epitome of perfection. To Kol, she was the angel to his devil. To Kol, she was the anchor to his sanity. To Kol, he was hers and she was his.
The woman began to talk, starting off with a smile. She sat on the fountain rim of the compound.
“Mikaelsons.”
Kol could see her shaking in spite of her efforts to seem happy.
“First off, I would like to apologize for the fact that I can’t say this to all of you personally. I’m sorry I had to put you through the trouble of learning how to use a laptop.”
She laughed a little at her attempt to make a joke (it did happen in reality though). One couldn’t see the obvious sadness and pain that she tried to hide if they did not know her so well.
“I’m going to skip the pleasantries, because if I don’t I swear I’ll end up giving up.”
She abruptly looked up, biting her lip.
Kol immediately recognized this habit of hers. It happened usually when she didn’t want to cry.
“Damn it, I’m not even a quarter through and I’m crying.” Her voice quivered already as she managed to control her tears and simply attempting to smile.
“Okay. Let me start properly.” She took a deep breath before releasing a shaky smile. “There was, or should I say, is a family full of beautiful people. They’re so damn beautiful it should be a crime. I’ve always wished I had some of their genes. Maybe that way I could look half as good as them.” She chuckled.
“Let’s start with the oldest one I know. Elijah.”
“Dear old noble Elijah. Always a gentleman. Always the one for manners. But underneath that noble facade was a man who could devote his soul to anyone but he himself. We never could do anything about it. But it always amazed me how Elijah kept pushing for the redemption of his family, especially Klaus. I won’t delve into the centuries.” She took another deep breath before looking at the camera with glassy eyes.
“Elijah, you are my big brother. The one I can always count on. The one with the strong shoulder if you want to cry, I. Love. You. So. Much. But please, give yourself a break for once. Let Nik go and tend to yourself first. I love that you love your... Our family, but goshdarnit we’ve been waiting for centuries for you to get a life. So now that Hayley is there, don’t let her go, aight? I’ll be watching from the other side. And if you don’t chase Hayley, I swear I’ll come back and haunt your ass until you do.” She smiled lovingly before laughing.
“Now for my hybrid brother Klaus. I love you as well.”
“First things first. I do not give you permission to slaughter anyone. Please don’t. Really. Don’t. No matter who they are, don’t. Consider it as my death wish. Please.” She begged with sincere eyes.
“Moving on, Nik was always the most deadly one. Even when I didn’t know he was a hybrid, I could always feel this.. sort of.. feeling from him. He was also the most caring, the one with the silliest ideas,” She laughed. “I remember this one sloppy guy hit on me and groped me. Next thing I knew, Nik compelled him to dance on the table tops of the bar. That was one of the funniest memories I’ve had with him. But he was also perhaps the most sensitive.”
“Nik, I know you’re facing a lot of problems, and I’m probably out of my place to say this, but the fact that you’re watching this means I’m de–”
Kol resisted the urge to slam the laptop and throw it against the wall with all his might had it not been playing your beautiful face.
“–ad.” [Y/N] laughed it off. “So it doesn’t matter. Anyway, please try and trust your siblings and don’t ask too much of them. Even as original vampires, they’re still humans with hearts and emotions. As for you trusted ones, I won’t blame Nik if he stakes all of you if you betray him.” She simply shrugged.
“Next up.... Rebekah Mikaelson.”
“There are no words to describe how absolutely freaking perfect Rebekah is. With her golden locks and tan skin and have you seen her body? I have and it’s the embodiment of flawlessness. I won’t deny that I’ve always been jealous of Bekah and that she’s caused me to have insecurities, but I’m happy with and for her nonetheless. She is my sister and my best friend who I won’t exchange the world, the universe, anything for. Same goes for all of you.” She smiled brightly.
“For all of you men planning to hurt her, I will come back from hell and tear off your limbs one my one before dragging you to hell with me.”
“Moving on, dear Bekah, to put things simply, you are the angel of the family. You’re the most affectionate, most human, most motherly and the most flawless woman I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. Those shopping sprees you always took me on? I loved every single moment of them. Not because I come home with a lot of pretty clothes and jewelry, but because those were the times we got to bond the most without the idea of death looming over us. I love you so much.”
“Now, Hope.”
“Hey there you lil’ devil! I’m so sorry Auntie [Y/N] can’t be there for you physically, but always know that I’m there for you by heart and by spirit. Goodness, I sound like an old woman.” She laughed softly. “a few centuries has finally taken toll on me... Anyway, honey, you are the glue for the family. Even if I haven’t seen you yet, I already know you’re gonna be so amazing. It runs in your blood.” She smiled even wider and laughed even more. “One of my biggest regrets right now is the fact that I won’t be able to see you grow up into the spectacular woman you’re meant to be. For that, I’m sorry. So do your aunt a favor and bring home a hot guy alright? Don’t worry, I’m sure Hayley and Bekah will protect him.” She laughed once more.
“Speaking of Hayley, GOSH I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a brave woman aside from Bekah. She’s the type of girl who stays so selfless and courageous even through thick and thin. She’s the epitome of girl power. Hayley is a perfect role model for Hope, aside from Bekah of course. But I’m pretty sure Nik, ‘lijah and Kol wouldn’t like that.”
Kol could sense the slightest crack and pause in her voice when she mentioned his name.
“Hayley, I know that you’re involved in all the Mikaelson drama. But I do encourage you to stay. Because aside from all the awesome once-in-a-lifetime adventures you get to have, ‘lijah will be a mess if you don’t stay.” She laughed. “I’m counting on you to raise Hope well and fit to the social standards of today, ‘kay? I don’t want her being bullied just because she can’t use an Iphone.”
There was a long pause.
“Now, Kol.... Mikaelson.”
“Kol Mikaelson is....” [Y/N] couldn’t even start properly as she burst to tears immediately. She attempted to calm herself down but it only resulted to more tears.
About 2 minutes of the video were spent on [Y/N] calming herself. She ended up with red puffy eyes and a quivering smile.
“Okay. Kol Mikaelson is a hysterical psychopath. He is a playboy, the typical bad boy. The abomination.”
She took a deep shaky breath.
“Kol Mikaelson is the emodiment of imperfect perfection.”
“Kol Mikaelson was, is, and always will be the love of my life.” She took a shaky breath in. “And the most painful thing that I’m experiencing right now is knowing that I’ll have to let him go.” She cried silently in her hands, before staring at the camera with tears running down her face.
“Kol, love, I want you to know that I love you so freaking much. I love you to the stars and back times infinity. You have my heart always and forever. I can’t even bear to think about the fact that I’m never going to see you again without bawling my damn eyes out.”
“I love you so much, that I’m finally letting you go. Nothing hurts more than the idea of you leading a miserable life full of rage and rampage because of me.”
“So I’m giving you an order. After a few months, I want you to pick up a nice girl, flirt with her, and fall for her and live happily with her. I don’t think I need to tell you to make her fall for you as well. Also, be a good uncle to Hope.” She was crying more than ever.
“I’m going to be blunt. Giving you permission hurts like hell. However, like I said, nothing hurts me more than being the cause of your pain.
“So here’s my final message for you Kol. I love you so much. I love you so so much I’m willing to give you up for you to be happy. I love you so so much because you’re so handsome, hot, caring, affectionate, playful and so much more. You’re just perfectly imperfect. I love you because you’re you and there’s nothing I’d want more in the love of my life. Once again, I say it. I love you Kol Mikaelson. I love you. You are my paradox. And I love you.”
“For all of you lot, please, for me and for the sake of the world, don’t break up. You’re family, always and forever right?”
The video ended with a smile. However, there was static before showing a picture of the Mikaelsons with [Y/N] then a picture of [Y/N] with a pregnant Hayley.
"I am [Y/N] [S/N] and I am proudly a part of the Mikaelson family.”
The video ended.
Kol had his head in his hands, tears freely flowing on his face.
“I Love You.” Her words rang through his head.
He felt so much pain and sadness as he sat there. He felt so much regret. Why wasn’t he there for her? Why wasn’t he able to save her?
It had already been a few months, but he was far from emotional instability, much less emotional stability.
However, he wanted to honor her request. So he stood up, flashed in the bathroom, splashed cold water on his face before wiping it with a towel. He took a deep breath and ran off to Davina with an aching heart.
(This is set immediately a little after Hayley is with the Mikaelsons. So basically, Kol isn’t supposed to be in town yet because.. Well... He’s dead. So basically, this is how it plays out. Reader dies during some sort of attack which I’m not revealing :P so reader actually dies before Kol is revived. When kol is revived, his first on his agenda is to go find reader but turns out reader is dead. So he watches the video over and over again (which he stole for a little while. Even so, Kol was forced to do the stuff he did with Davina because of Esther. So everything plays out as is. I’m sorry if I got the timeline wrong. But this is basically how it played out in my head)
(part 2? Anyone?)
(update: originally the the title was oxymoron but I thought that was the contradictory statement and so I concluded that paradox was the contradictory pair of words so I changed it but turns out I was right all along -.-’ )
Here’s a ran on The Originals because I have feelings (I’m a very emotional person btw)(and I need to vent... )(Because of my feelings)(Scroll past if you’re not interested)(Really fast)(Like vampire speed scrolling)
So I have now rewatched The Originals from the beginning. I just finished season 4 and I cried because it was sad. I just can’t help but wonder what Klaus is gonna do now? I know what happens, I've seen season 5, but at that very moment when he had to say good bye? It’s really sad, like where did he go? His entire purpose for the past years has been to be with his daughter and now he suddenly can’t see her anymore or his family? What is he gonna do? Honestly? Rebekah has Marcel, Elijah wiped his memory and Kol has Davina. But Klaus? I wished they could come up with a way for him to stay with Hayley and Hope. I don’t think it would affect the story that much. Yeah, Hope calling out “Dad!” was emotional and the sacrifice he made for his daughter to keep her alive by staying away was noble. I’m all for showing off character development but it would have been different. He should have stayed with her, nothing big happens in season 5 that needs for them to stay apart. (Except the Hayley missing part but look at that I just saved season 5 and Hayley so they could come up with another storyline for that season. ) It should have ended with Klaus, Hayley and Hope trying to work as a family. I think it would reflect the first season finale in a good, sentimental way.
I’ve also come to the conclusion that season 5 sucks (-ish) because Michael Narducci isn’t part of the show by then. I legit think that he was the only one who could keep Julie in check and I can’t believe he left the final season to let us witness the randomness and plotholeness that was season 5. So many things doesn’t make sense in that season and it’s unfortunate how emotional and well made the fourth season was compared to it. Like why did Elijah not take the hollow and kill himself since he didn't wanna live anymore, why let Klaus go through with it too and leave his daughter and orphan by the way who takes care of her now? I don’t understand. It didn’t make sense for them both to die more than showing them both die in a poetic way but let me tell you death isn’t something to be romanticized ok?
I also got teary eyed when Elijah “lost” his memories because it’s the reason why Hayley died and I almost wanted to reach into the screen and stop him. (or slap him) Also they kept saying (To Hope) that they’ve survived for 1000 years and The Hollow won’t stop them, it’s nothing they haven’t beaten before and after season 5 it’s pretty sad how it actually was the thing that did stop them. I’m having a lot of emotions tonight apparently.
And In case someone has forgotten; Hayley still deserved better and so did Josh. And Hope. Cause making her an orphan at 15 was still such a shitty move and I’m not over it and never will be.
